Apart from the paint, I don`t think there is a difference between the K2 & K3 - but I stand to be corrected by those here in the know. Mine`s a K3 for sure on a `53 Plate and the paint job is the same as yours......

Thanks

I have ridden out and wow the bike is beautiful . I can see why everyone is happy with the gsx 1400

I have a few different bikes and after 20 miles I think it's my best one

There are other differences between K2 and K3 besides the Paint (at least on German 14s):

K3: The wire harness has been changed due to introduction of hazard lights and lights on when ignition is turned on with key.
The bearings for the steering stem changed from ball bearing to tapered-rolling bearings. Also the rear shocks were modified (unsuccessfully) due to the known preload leaking problem.

Fuel rail material was also changed. Can't remember the materials.

Almost forgot the incredible improvement of adding a 4th hole to the bling-covers to the sides of the throttle bodies :coffeescreen:

Hello Bailey, welcome from another K3 owner

However IMO the k2 has the better paint graphics plus it also came with polished front and rear foot hangers.

Enjoy  :)

Should I fit a hugger as there is no chain guard or just fit a chain guard  . I know it's down to to personal taste . Has anyone got an original chain guard for sale .

VladTepes

Oh you definitely should have a chain guard of some sort !

Not all huggers incorporate chain guards (though most these days do) and yes its a matter of personal taste.

With that bike, if I were you, I'd see if I could track down a genuine chain guard.  Be careful though - a common failure point is the front tab on the guard, securing it to the bike there. Can split from vibration over time. so may either be dodgied up with a washer or something, or possible repaired.  Just something to be aware of to check when shopping, when looking at second hand parts. :)
