Seeing that it spreads in warmer regions the hope that the spread subsides in the warmer season (as with the flu) is in vain.

Hooli

Looks more like centered in areas of high population with decent medical facilities to me. I bet most of Africa has it too, but they won't be doing any testing.

My old boss went on a cruise to Antarctica. French cruise line. Now not allowed back into Oz. Owners have decided to sail back to France. Very long trip over huge seas. Must take a while for that distance. Not sure they can enter France. Not sure if they do go into France can be allowed out to come home. If the beer runs out hell be devastated. Hes just lucky ive made him so much money last 25 yrs.

Gentlemen a question. Yesterday we were told that America had lost more people to Covid than they did in WW2, that l find hard to believe. How many of you blokes have had Covid and dare l ask if any of you have lost a loved one solely due to Covid and not because of an underlying condition. My brother lives in London and says he's had it twice.

We can't tell you as they make sure not to publish those numbers. We get told how many died after testing positive within 28 days, which in a lot of cases is like saying how many people in a cancer hospice has bed sores in the last month.

I think the published figure is about 100k, but I know when the UK hit 40k if you searched through the figures the total at that time without underlying conditions was about 1,600. So I'd say by now the real figure might be 2,500 but that wouldn't scare people enough to justify the bullshit would it?

Kiwifruit

Thanks Hooli. l think your last sentence is where l sit with it all. We have no community cases yet our govt are bashing away at scanning the contact tracing QR code and doing their best to scare us into being compliant.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

We've had the same report in the U.K. comparing US losses to those who lost their lives in WW2. Actually the number of US troops killed in WW2 was 407,362, so it's a genuine comparison.

Like Hooli says it's hard to gauge the actual losses to Covid, as the figures published by the U.K. relate to deaths within 28 days of a positive test. And whilst I haven't lost any family due to Covid (thankfully) I do know of 3 people who have unfortunately lost their lives to this vile virus, 2 of which as far as I was aware, were fit as a fiddle. My daughter also had Covid, but was thankfully never hospitalised because of it.

Having a second case of Covid as far as I am aware is pretty rare. A while back there were discussions about whether or not you could catch it twice, never did hear the final outcome, nor whether it was proven or not, and it's no longer discussed in media in the U.K.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Not Covid sick but because of lockdowns etc. Few months back, my 90 yr old Mum. She got mixed up in her head, couldnt see her friends, go to bowls etc. We put her in hospital, she then refused to go home. We had to sell her house, pack n sort all her belongings. Big job. Shes now in a care place, cost a fortune for it. 12 mths ago she had a brilliant house, now she lives in a 3x3 metre room. Thats all due to Covid rules. Just another side to it.

Kiwifruit

Thats a sad story Greg. I can see how that  happens. Dads 86 lives happily on his own but we visit, during lockdown we didn't get to see him at all.

Here in the Netherlands we had about 13 thousand more deads than in 2019. They blame Corona for that and a heat wave.
That is a predicted number by a independent statistics bureau founded in 1899.

My mother in law survived the 1st wave
My grandmother in law (90yo) survived the 1st wave.
My sister in law survived it twice.
We know nobody who was hospitalised.

Wife is self-employed and is forced to close the shop for the 2nd time and again has to wait till she can apply for some funding ... in about a month or 3

We are lucky because we have some reserves / funds and i have a vital occupation so i can work my ass off to compensate  ;)

Up untill now i never had to work 1 day from home due to Corona measures.
