Checked TPS now bike won't turn over

Checked the TPS resistance at the grey connector under left cover, all plugs are connected, now the start button does nuthin. All other electrics seem to be working. What the hell, can someone put me out of my misery :frustrated:

Not got the 'check' sign showing on the speedo by chance?  If yes, it's 90% likely the kill switch is in the off position.

Hey Col, nope, now warnings. I pulled the grey connector apart, took resistor readings, joined connector now it won't tune over, starter button is dead. Now this is why i love my old  bikes, I would know what's wrong, this is so infuriating. Is there a fuse for the starter, doesn't seem to be in the fuse box.

Nic

I notice the clock is not telling the right time, now, is that relevant, must have disconnected it somehow? Does pulling the grey block apart kill voltage to the clock?

KiwiCol

Can you tell me what it does when the key is turned on?  Does the fuel pump prime? do the gauges sweep? 'dash' lights on?   There is a master fuse, not sure where exactly, I've never had to find it.  I'll look it up.

As for the grey plug disconnecting the power to the clocks? dunno, but seems logical.  You got a multimeter there to check for continuity ?

When the key is turned on everything reacts as normal. I can't find a 30A fuse, only the spare, besides, if it was blown there's be nothing.

Check where

KiwiCol

Ya haven't bumped it into gear by chance when you've been working on the left?   You are pulling in the clutch yeah?

A faulty clutch switch will prevent it from starting.  You can bridge the terminals to take the switch out of the circuit, but it's not good practice to leave it (for weeks etc) bridged as it runs a different map in the ecu.

Yeah Col, holding clutch in, the wires are connected, I think I'll go n short them together and get back, doesn't explain the clock though.

KiwiCol

The grey plug could explain the clock.  Does seem bloody odd that a clutch switch could fail at the exact time you were working on the TPS.

Definitely sounds electrical, & something that's happened whilst you've been in there today.   Well,  when was the last time it started & what work has been done since then?   I wonder if it's the grey plug?  Maybe take apart & spray & reconnect?

Yes, possible, anyway Col, thanks for your help mate, the clutch switch has taken a shit. Shorted the wires n away she went. Thanks again.
