As for weight, it's probably similar to a twin system on the earlier models.

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Well the forks are all polished up, new seals and bushes etc. FFS I spent 1/2 an hour making up a tool to hold the guts but didn't need it, Allen bolt did up both times with no dramas.
Forks are back on the bike. I'll finish up the front end tomorrow.
I decided to put an old pair of Oxford heated grips on, I had a half used tube of Tarzan's grip, I dunno if it's going to even set with no air in there, anyone know what glue I should use? No air in there, brfff, that never stops the tube going hard when you next need some.
Better a tube of Tarzan's grip than a grip of Tarzan's tube. Couldn't resist.

Had the same with my forks, no need for a tool.
Polish up looks great.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Thanks Eric, well I've just finished up wrestling with the front wheel, I can't believe the drama, I eventually got the axle threads to engage with the other side but I had to be Hercules with the ratchet, it was really weird and no, they aren't cross threaded.
I think what happened is this:
When I put the front guard on I forgot the brake hose retaining brackets that go on the back bolts, this has thrown the forks out of wack and made it almost impossible to do up the axle, when I put the calipers back on, the left one went on easy, the right one wouldn't go on, I had to loosen the pinch bolts and lever the right fork out about 3mil, I spose this is how you know the forks are aligned?  Iv'e never had so much drama putting a wheel on.
Tomorrow weather permitting, I'll go for a nice test ride and hope the bike now will lean into corners. I forgot to put those bug stoppers on the forks, I think it looks better like that. I remember I did the exact same thing when I had the Bandit

Amazing job mate, looks excellent and your speed getting it done, pit crew material. Had same front wheel prob once, front had been out. My remedy was fit everything but left bolts loose, axle went in easy then just tightened everything. Not sure if correct way but it worked.

That makes sense to me Grog......
Nice work Nic, looks great.

Thanks again fellas, man I'm in no hurry to sand any more alloy, 240, then 320, then 600 then 1200. The worst is the 240, that's where all the work is, these forks are really rough under that clear coat, lot of sanding and it's a real dirty job too. I spose it's all worth it in the end, looks better in the flesh too.

Many years ago I replaced 240 wet & dry with one of these. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3M-8S-FIN-Light-Deburring-Wheel-Fine-Scotch-Brite-Silicon-Carbide-6x1x1-8S-LD-WL-/221493743004
Sisal & calico mops on a buff mean the other wet & dry grades are kept for painting and your fingers still have skin too.   :onya:

The new grips come with super glue.
Thanks mate, I took the left grip off n put in some 5 minute araldite, didn't think of super glue
The throttle grip is on pretty tight but if it loosens up I'll go the superglue.

Did you check front wheel runs free ? I had the same after replacing front wheel bearings. When i had the left axle threaded receiver flush with the fork, wheel  would not spin freely and the discs grabbed the caliper.  I think its to do with the bearing offset inside the hub. Grog is right, fit it all up loose, get the axle in, nip it up.  Spin the front wheel and grab the front brake lever, this centres the wheel, hold it and then do up the pinch bolts on the lhs only.  Zip tie the brake lever to the bar if you want. Then do up the caliper bolts (25nm each i think), then do up the axle nut (100nm), then do up the rhs pinch bolts (23nm).  Check everything and then good to go.

Seems good, thanks mate.

The super glue supplied with Oxford grips l found to be junk. Both grips finished up slipping. l re-glued them using Sikaflex 221 windscreen urethane. Ain't moved again.

Reading all the guff on the 6 pot calipers, I decided to have a look on the bay for 4 pot ones, there was a sv1000 pair on there but not much else so bugger it, I bought em, I have ordered seal kits for them thinking I might as well spend the dough on the 4 potters than on the 6ers. Hope the pistons are good, won't be surprised if they're not though. I'll be needing new lines soon as well.
While I was adjusting all the suspension settings I noticed the rebound on the rear shocks were 2 on one side and 3 on the other. Haven't ridden the bike since due to shit weather. Maybe go to Duckberg ( Canb ) tomorrow.
