At last - A 1400 race

Just wanted to let youse all know after a certain person disappeared a couple of weeks ago, someone else has stepped up and will be at Lakeside on Thursday afternoon with his 1400 to enter Race Your Mates. It's only taken 8 years, but finally someone said "yeah, let's go Pete"
Don't know much about him other than he has a pair and he has a 1400 he is prepared to give a good floggin.
Can't wait.
Hope I don't embarrass myself.

You never know, but if you look hard enough you might even find Wally mingling with the spectators.

I wish I was here to bring happy news.
However, Kevin Davie (he says he raced in the nineties, if anyone knows that name I'd love to hear) showed up at the track as promised, pit crew in tow.
As you can see from the qualifying times below
he qualified  14th in 1:11.66
I qualified 6th in 1:07.33

In the first race we line up, me on row 2 he on row 5.
Warm up lap!
We fire off the line and scream down through turn one and roll off before turn 2.
In all the madness couple of people seem to forget this is the WARM UP lap and Kevin Davie comes under me though turn 2 and drives hard up the hill towards the "bus stop"
Coming out of the bus stop I see Kevin Davie sliding face down with the bike doing the same a few metres further on.
In a nutshell that was the end of the day for us.
He was totally unconscious and badly concussed when he came around.
His pit crew told me he was taken to Brisbane hospital with a couple of broken bones.
The bike didn't look too bad. Snapped handlebar, nasty scrape and dent in the tank - I didn't want to inspect too closely as I felt it was inappropriate and didn't want to seen as gloating.

On the upside - I did a PB in the second race 1:06.20.
Sorry if this is all a bit disappointing, it is for me.
I don't have any pics yet but I'll be sure to post anything that pops up online. The official photographer was there but there might not be anything of Kevin Davie.
As I believe there to be some chance of a Wally looking on from the guest list I would also like to post pics of the damage after fitting jack up blocks.
I really don't feel the difference of every suspension click or even the jack up blocks, but I can see lap times and as you can see the left engine casing, engine mount and side stand mount have copped it a bit and the right engine mount bolts were new that day.
Don't mean to have tickets on myself, but I'm proud of that.

Yes Andre, it is devilish fun.
I was using Dunlop slicks.
It was a hot day and after some slides in race one I put on a soft, resulting in my PB I think.
I believe the jack up blocks helped too.
I had done low sevens before, but to lose a whole second to low sixes in one day tells me I had some extra help.
Kiwifruit, sadly no pay for warm up, but last week I won a drive in an ex V8 supercar at Queensland Raceway – so I'm looking forward to that.
The pics are up on the site and there is a good one of Kevin Davie, one of me and one of me chasing Ray on his newly acquired 2010  ZX10R. I managed to hang on and finish 0.4s behind him in race 2.
AND just so I get the exposure my ego needs I have reposted my fave 1400 pic of all.

I like to think I have a pair, but no insurance (I'm poor white trash).
I can only push so hard. Such is life.
I still enjoy it out in the country by myself.
