I never knew what an old bunch of Bah humbugs we were 
It has surprised me how many don't even put a tree up. 
Our tree went up last weekend, but I have always been forced to go along with the whole Xmas thing, because my wife is into it all   
It has settled right down now though.

No tree at ours, going to my nieces instead,sit down to a three meat dinner, roast beef, turkey, and a cold ham, roast tatty's Yorkshire puds and all the trimmings then go home again so I don't have to listen to a bunch of screaming kids arguing about whose turn it is on the game controls (no kids of my own). Sit down in a quiet house and open up a couple of cold ones and watch tv.

We couldn't do that here Col. Most likely need resourse consent and certainly would have to cover the house in scaffolding along with having a traffic management plan to put them up. lnsurance cover would be void because of unconsented, non compliant electrical work.

There's a couple of suburbs in town here that have quite a few displays like Beasts'.  One does it & so the neighbours do it a bit more & their neighbours do it even more. Ya get the picture, but it actually looks amazing driving through the area.  There are always heaps & heaps of cars n families out walking these areas at night close to Christmas.

I prefer the sparkly lights I see with a few good JD's or Jimmy Black under me belt though . . .

Lots of houses way over the top around here. They look good but just so much effort & money. They have the best listed in paper and even bus tours to check them out. I usually have some lights but this year a bit difficult.
