Not sure if i posted this during apocalypse 14 episode or before. I added extra earth wire from battery to original ground. 5mm wire. Voltmeter ive fitted always bounced 13.6 to 13.9volts riding.  Now just steady on 13.8. Starting bike, turns over much faster. For a few bucks im thinking you should all do similar.

I added that same extra grounding ( and a few more groundings, ecu and clocks ) with the same result.

I had a triumph Legend - when it got hot all the indicators flashed because the earth went via the thermostat and it became high resistance. A separate earth wire sorted.  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

@grog sounds like a good mod to me buddy, so have moved this to Electrics and stickied it :onya:
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Not a lot to photo. Around 300 mm of 5 or 6 mm wire. An eyelet connector each end, crimp or solder or both. Yellow was correct size for me. Wire just follows original earth from battery to motor.

Hooli

Is that the small one off the batt that several people says fractures internally & has been the cause of hard to find issues?

grog

Thats the one Hooli. Sure cranks over better.

I think Grog misunderstood. There are 2 earth wires connected (spliced together) coming off the battery. The small one has a connector and leads to the ECU (4 ground pins) and regulator/rectifier. The thicker one goes from the battery to the engine (as in Grog's pic).

grog

Thanks Andre, i often get confused. Age does that.  :) Yeah the wire to motor.

Andre

Honestly Grog, at first I was confused just as you were. Slept a night over it and reread Hooli's post and got it. I am getting old and need my sleep

Hooli

I couldn't 100% recall the details of the one I was thinking of, which I doubt helped either.

Cheers guys.

I think I should do this extra earth mod. When the bike is on the trickle charger I get a slight tingle when I touch anything metal on the bike. It's mainly if the soft part of my arm touches anything I feel it.

grog

Maybe its just the tingly feeling you get when you touch someone you love. Just saying.
