Agro on the road

I hate this but i strugle with it sometimes. It is my bigest down fall.
I fear in Australia we are pretty bad for it to.
I'm couteous and polite, generaly pretty easy going, but if you drive like a dick around me i find myself wanting to return the favour to help bring some understanding and apreciation of the impact of thier actions.... and end up being dick as well

What is the solution, self improvment, perhaps using the horn and let it be?
It is not as much of an issue on the bike, more so the blander the car.

I tend to be a victim of road rage Beast ... my own. I try to ignore poor driving and mostly can because with age comes mistakes & I've made a few lately but it's the drivers ignorant of their surroundings that piss me off. The ones who sit in the outside lane doing the same speed as the guy in the kerb lane. At the speed limit maybe but I might want to break the law & pass them by driving/riding 5kph above the speed limit.

Then you get the ones who queue across an intersection or refuse to let the guy merge from the left lane.

You're probably too young to remember the NRMA slogan "Courtesy is catching". No such thing these days.

Yeah Beast, the best solution is let it be, but that is easier said than done for me included.
And the other one Pete, that drives me crazy in the country (when working in the car) They sit below the speed limit on single lane roads, and as soon as the overtake lane appears, they speed up well above the limit  so you basically have to do about 50kph over, just to get past these Morons. If you don't pass them, they go straight back down below the limit when the single lane is back

And of there jut happens to be an unmarked police car coming the other way before you've slowed down to the limit again you will cop a ticket...

I hear ya guys, we have them here too.  We must be tolerant of our caged bretheren gentlemen, even though they're being complete a$$holes & D1ckwads, we must show patience & understanding. Then flick them the bird as we fly past!  oh, got the last bit wrong - again . . .

I can generally deal with ignorance and lazy driving as these thing happen and i can appreciate that (shit a bloke hit me on the freeway almost taking me out but i was more disappoint that he had know idea than pissed off) . It is the deliberate stuff done with intent i struggle with, cutting people off where you have to take avoidance action, brake checking, driving up your arse.  Maybe a dash cam would make me feel better lol.
It doesn't happen often but it stirs me up when it does.
I guess it is the same as if some walked up and pushed you, do you push back or walk away. I spent my youth walking away and regret the toll it takes.

The deliberate stuff you mention is done by assholes, entitled arrogant assholes, who don't give a shit for you, me or any other bugger.  The road rules don't apply the them & common curtesy to others never enters their head. Everyone else on the road is just there as a hinderance to them & should get the feck out of their way.
Those blokes you mean?  Yeah, bugger all you can do about them, just hope a copper gets them pulling ones of their stunts.  It's not worth the agro to you, to have a crack at these people, even though they may sorely deserve it. You'll just end up more stressed inside than you were when they did whatever it was. Let it go & smile, think of how tied up inside they must be to carry on like that.

The fact you get upset is because you are everything the other driver/rider is not.

I have been a professional driver since 1994 and covered many miles and used to react. When I became a Buddhist (in philosophical terms) I changed my attitude and when I feel frustrated I turn the classical music on and chill out. There is zero possibility by me getting furious/upset that it will change the other person. Let them get on with it.

Done 50k mls/year since 1996. First 12yrs suffered badly with road rage, rising to the bait, tailgating etc..Then got caught speeding, v. close to being banned.
Wake up call I needed, now just let the twats pass me by.
I think age may be a factor or realizing the futility of reacting , 99% of the time..

My old man had a few credible philosophies , one of which was 'i'd prefer him in front than behind me, so i can keep an eye on him'.  The great thing about being on a bike with the power of a 14 is that you choose your time and sweep past.

Patience is the word. Getting wound up doesn't stop your family mourning, so go oneupmanship and give him/her a lesson in good driving.
