My nan didn't like Messerschmitts...... she said one machine gunned Walthamstow high street.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Andre

My mom didn't like the Mustang P 51 that trained its guns on her when she was 10. However, I like the P 51 as well as the Me 109. Go figure :confused1:

I like aircraft of that era Andre. Think its the design. The pilots really flew them. Cables, linkages, gauges, primative radio and radar.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I'm just wondering how a P-51 trained it's guns, as it only had fixed ones in the wings.

Got me there Hooli :notworthy: It was the pilot who trained the guns.

QuoteIt means to point them at the target. It originally referred to the guns of a warship, "the destroyer trained her guns on the submarine", but is sometimes used for other guns, "the policemen trained their guns on the suspect". It could be used figuratively, to mean give close, possibly hostile, attention to something. "The directors trained their guns on the manager responsible for the costly mistake."

Hooli

I've just not seen the term used for fixed guns before Andre.

I normally head North, but went South for a change. Yatala, Bearded Dragon, Canungra, Beachmont, Advance Town, Natural Arch, over the border into NSW, Numinbah, Chillingham, and Flutterbies Cafe at a Tyalgum. A bit of smoke about but not a drama, no fires or roads closed on route, a couple of rough sections most mostly good roads. Kedron to Flutterbies was about 175K's I think. Funny little cafe, a good feed but no bacon or pork! Nice setting and great service. Reverse route back may be better than my detour via Tweed Heads / Gold Coast! 370k / 230 mile round trip.

It's a funny cafe! Well out in the countryside in a village. All the staff are in costume / uniform from the past. Food is great but they won't serve pork or bacon! The bits on the plate lower/right are chicken. Tasted great but a bit different!

I wonder if they are of a certain Faith?

I will eat anything...
But not mad keen on Beetroot!

Tony Nitrous

It's a bit La-de-da fancy and a bit trendy for me!

I'm normaly a greasy spoon / truck stop / full English fry up but the location and service make up for it.

Speedy, not liking beetroot, now that is against my faith. I reckon i have it on every sanger i make.

KiwiCol

I recall having beetroot sandwiches as a kid, loved them.   Nothing else in it, just beetroot, was home done stuff though, bit better taste than tinned.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎
