Always put my kit on whenever I ride the bike. Fell off on the way to school myself many years ago but was very lucky.
Shudder when I see the kids going to school in there shorts, sandals and short sleeved shirt riding their scooters, girls are even worse with their dresses on.
I know HD riders have tougher skin so they don't always have to worry.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I have summer and rest of the year bike gear and wear what's correct for the conditions.
My lighter summer stuff has loads of vents but still fully protective.
I also have 3 grades of gloves very summer leather and mesh, gortex light summer gloves and heavy weight winter gloves.
I hate seeing folk on bikes without gloves.
If this guy did this to his back I can't imagine what his hands could have ended up like if he's put them out first .
My pet hate is no gloves as there is no reason not to wear them .
:frustrated:
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

I recently bought a proper lightweight armoured mesh jacket - one of the best things I have ever purchased for summer riding, keeps you nice and cool but safe at the same time
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Looking forward to temps when I can wear my mesh jacket again.

That pic is a great advert as to why you should wear decent gear.  Man that's gotta sting for weeks.

Friend of mine used to ride in blundstone boots, came off at a reasonable clip one day and needless to say the elastic sides dont offer much protection and consequently his ankle bone was ground down to nothing, permanent pain and limp.

I had an accident like that, but it was my leg that was skinned which hurt like hell, but it was nothing compared to as when the nurse came round with a scrubbing brush and anti-septic soap to clean the wound out so it could be dressed. I was crying like a baby when she did it . ( I was 17 at the time )

To bad for you that the nurse didn't know about xylocaine-gel. Should have applied that first and waited a bit before she scrubbed. You wouldn't have had pain!

Saw a guy come off at Lakeside track one day. Full jacket, gloves boots and pants. By the time he stopped sliding around his jacket was up under his arms, his elbows were exposed and his leather pants were up above his boots. This guy worked at a bike shop. He was a sore and sorry sight.
Moto is - wearing all the right gear might not save your hide if it doesn't fit properly.
Hell, 95% of jackets will ride up. They really need a loop under your crutch to keep them down.

I also recently bought a "Fieldsheer" Mesh jacket with armored panels.
It was brilliant during the heatwave we had during the summer..
I wear it even on cooler days as I dont seem to feel the cold like a lot of my mates do..
Highly recommended

OUCH that is gonna take some time to heal too. Can't imagine lying on your back in bed for a while.  :whatever:

You POMS make me laugh talking about SUMMER riding and needing mesh
