Hmmm. On one hand I like the sound of a fruity pipe as much as the next guy but on the other hand you have to admit there are people really taking the piss with bike exhausts now. Especially (around here) middle aged blokes on Harleys with straight through pipes.

I work in an office near a busy road and it gets to the point where we have to stop conversations or phone calls until they've gone past. I imagine it's not great for people trying to get a baby to sleep, or get to sleep after a night shift, or generally live their lives in reasonable peace.

So unfortunately, as usual, a small number of selfish arseholes have created a climate where people are happy to support measures like this.

I have no problem with cops checking the noise level. But these automated cameras rub me the wrong way. Just another way to make money.

Yes but that's the problem. There are hardly any cops, at least in this country. They are struggling to investigate even serious crimes so they're not likely to be out there with microphones chasing loud bikes.

Yes but that's the problem. There are hardly any cops, at least in this country. They are struggling to investigate even serious crimes so they're not likely to be out there with microphones chasing loud bikes.

Then they should get more cops! Here they place themselves strategically to get the most out of it. Catch quite a few. But then they hand out the fines. One guy I talked to this week paid 25€

So, after you've paid your 25 euro, are you allowed to ride it then? or are they going to be on the next corner & bang you another 25, or hit you again tomorrow?

You get a fix-it order and you have to present it to a police station. Afterward you can change it back if you are so inclined and face another ticket. If you fail to present it they will report you to the registration office which might decide to revoke your registration.

Driving home/workshop to get it fixed and you get stopped again you show them the ticket and should be clear. If you ride around just for fun you may ask for another ticket.

I'm hoping it's more aimed at the boy racers in their chavved up Clios' with huge straight through exhausts.

I test drove a Vauhall Astra VXR before finally buying the one I have now. It had been modded and chipped to 340bhp. One of the mods was a straight through 3" stainless exhaust system from the turbo back. It was deafening and very annoying to drive..I politely declined it.

Turners have even deleveloped a "Pop and Bang" map for ECU's..Boy racers around here love them. At night when they're out playing it sounds like Beirut on a good day

This morning 6am, no muffler Hardly using full revs past my house. I love the sound of most bikes but that noise is just noise. I cant understand how they enjoy it and get away with it. The pop and bang thing on cars also the latest rage. Huge backfires.
