Nice day out by the looks of it. And a nice piece of countryside too.
The third pic down, is that some kind of "honesty box" cafe arraignment?

It was indeed, that's how far from town I'd got. Far enough for people to be honest!

The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

I was a bit north of you today then, I did Snowdownia including lunch at Llamberis after riding the pass & then back over the pass heading home.

The last two weekends have seen the GSX getting all the love. The first time round because I was meeting up with a mate who also had one (although he confounded me by actually turning up on a Triumph café racer), on Good Friday the GSX was therefore at the front of the garage and being fundamentally idle it seemed like a good idea to go out on it again – anyway, it is the perfect bike for the sort of ride I was planning; no need for a fairing on a warm dry day, comfortable and agile enough for a good few miles and there was no need for luggage – just my DSLR camera in a back pack.

It was to be an invasion of Wales – well, a bit of a border skirmish I suppose.

Once I had cleared Bewdley I was free of most of the bank holiday day trippers and the oldies heading for the garden centres and ran out toward Leominster. I'd considered the café frequented by bikers at Crossgates for a refreshment break but whilest biker's cafes are great places to meet up you can sometimes be waiting ages to get served on a sunny public holiday – I opted for a Costa Express out of a machine the other side of Leominster and cracked on.

At Crossgates (where the biker's café did not actually look that busy after all) I turned north in the direction of Welshpool but after passing Newtown I cut back east for Montgomery where I parked up in the small town's square and had a two course lunch of Ginster's sausage roll and Walkers French Fries. It was washed down with a Cherry Coke as the place did not seem to keep a good cellar.

The bike hauled me up the hill above the town where I roamed the ruins of the castle for a while (free admission). Not the greatest of the border castles by any means, but I had never been to Montgomery before and that for me was as good a reason as any to go.

The return run to Stourbridge was a bit more direct than the run out and started with some less familiar roads before reaching Craven Arms where I was on better known territory and was able to pick the pace up just a little.

A good day out on the bike, hopefully there will be more to come soon.

That's an average of less than 40 mph, I hope it was quicker on the bike  ;)

Oh, the bike shot through it OK, but the coffee and cigarette breaks overran catastrophically.

Took the Zed bike out for a lap of the Reefton Spur couple of days ago - the road has recently been reopened after bush fires...

The sign used to say "Sections of this highway are subject to frost ice and snow. Drive slowly."

At least the views have improved with the bush next to the road gone...
I plan on living forever - so far, so good!

Reminds me of the VJMC Rally at Healesville 2010 just after the fires.

Mister Fishfinger

Had a lovely weekend away, touring North Wales with a group of mates on bikes.

This is us stopping on the way up at the Claerwen Dam. You might have seen it on TV a few years ago in Top Gear, when for some reason they decided to tow a Landrover up the face of it using only the winch on the front.

Anyway after it stopped raining I am pleased to report that North Wales is beautiful and there are lots of great roads to play on.

By the way, we were passed yesterday on the A470 southbound by a blue & white GSX1400 - anyone on here?

Today we visited the annual  "Bikers Against Bullying" happening at a local school.

Red Biker

Dropped into the garage of the guy who set up my suspension.
He' s an ex copper and amateur racer,
gave up the force to work on custom builds, he also runs tig welding courses.
He's recreated this Mick Doolan bike, I'd kill to have half his knowledge/skill.

Many a Donkey has lost its hoof on the rocky road, don't be that Donkey!

He's probably not the best person to confess this to  :whistling:
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

He was CID mj, I thought about giving the names of all those still with original exhaust cans so they can be charged with offensive behaviour  :smoke:
