Bike a bit boggy???

I find sometimes my 1400 is a bit boggy, when you blip the throttle or go to take off its just a tiny bit boggy and stutters for a split second, when you rev it its clean and crisp but just the initial take off she can be slightly hesitant just for a second. Serviced recently, new plugs oil, full system fitted, new reg/rec.... Any ideas?

I'm going to order a new clutch switch just to change it and rule it out and replace the tea bag filter too

have you ever cleaned the high pressure fuel filter or done the external fuel filter mod?

This helped mine the most with the same symptoms you described.

also you can rule out the clutch switch by simply unplugging it after the bike has started. If the symptoms are still there it is not your clutch switch.

Just don't go riding in traffic, if you stall you will need to plug the clutch switch back in before you can start it. Ask me how I know?

No, I was just going to replace the tea bag filter, cheap enough and wasn't going to touch the high pressure filterbrcsus from what I've read it's a tricky enough job but Imight do now. I know it's a 6mm in line filter but where abouts do you locate it on the low pressure line?

If the bike revs OK then it's not starving for fuel so you can rule out the high pressure filter as a problem. The tea bag probably needs a clean but again I don't think that's your problem. I think your flat spot is the fuel injection out of sync so that's the first thing I'd do but there are also many sensors that should be looked at with a multi meter.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

The teabag filter is fitted to the bottom of the fuel pump .
You need to remove the fuel pump and strip it down a bit to get at the teabag filter.

It's easier than it sounds .
While you have it apart use carb cleaner (hi-pressure cans are available from most motorfactors) .
I fitted an inline extra filter to the low pressure line from the rear of the tank to the fuel pump.
Have a look there are threads in both of these in the forum fueling section.

If your filters are dirty/clogged you might need to have your injectors serviced and cleaned .

Other things to check are the throttle cable adjustment and freeplay.

Throttle position sensors and secondary.

Balancing of the throttle bodies.

Battery for condition and charging/age.

Do you have an alarm as these mess up the bikes electrical systems.

Good luck

Thanks lads, I'll check the clutch switch tomorrow. When I get a day or two I'll take the tank off, replace the tea bag filter, cable tie the clip solid in place and possibly put in an online filter. I would have thought doh and inline filter would have starved it of fuel as the flow wouldn't be as good because its to go through the filter?

I'm not even going to attempt to balance the throttle bodies myself etc, I'll be getting it dropped up to get the ecu flashed soon so I'll get my dyno guy to go through all that and check everything, rather have someone who's an expert to do all that  :notworthy:

I personally would not recommend an ECU flash, been proven time and time again that that is not very effective. You would be far better to fit a PCIII or the later PC-V which the majority of 14's have fitted for improving the fuelling
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

I agree @gsxbarmy
Pc 3 or pcv is the way to go when adjusting fueling .
Main thing is that there are loads of folk with a powercommander set up so help is always available.

Once it's had a ecu flash it's done and can't be changed or adjusted and from what I've seen it doesn't even really work very well.

The pcv even has an app so you can adjust fueling via your phone if needed.

the stutter on take off and boggyness was a problem I cured with the high pressure filter bypass mod (and eventually a cheap, aftermarket fuel pump), I didn't have any high rev scavenging or fuel starvation.

Also, might be worth checking air filter, I know you said you had it serviced but it can't hurt to check.

Never hurts to check what they did or didn't do :frustrated:

Fuel flow and fuel pressure check will let you narrow down the problem.
