Looking at a second hand GSX1400 this weekend.  2003 year model.  So hope to be buying it on saturday if the inspection and test ride go well.

Will still be keeping my current ride which is a VFR800.  But wanted something different and the 1400 reminds me of my older brother's GS1000S, back in the day.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi..

Great to have you here.

VFR's are good but GSX1400's are betterer.  :)

I notice the K3 at Minto is no longer advertised. Is that one of the bikes you were looking at yesterday and are you the new owner?
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Hi Everyone...

well..  what a trip I had yesterday to Sydney (from Tamworth).

I hope this is OK that I post this here..

I borrowed a mate's trailer to take a look at the bike from Minto in Sydney..

Well, it seems that my mates trailer must have had some electrical gremlins.

My wife and I tried to leave at 5am.  But the Subaru wouldn't start - battery was drained.  Got the other car out and jump started and off we went at 5:40am.
Got out on the highway and noticed that the cruise control wasn't working..  must be a blown fuse I thought.  Stopped at Scone Maccas for breakfast.  Noticed that the indicators didn't blink when I locked the car..  but they worked OK when turning corners..  1/2 way through the Putty Road, I noted that each time I indicated right to overtake someone, the dash lights would go bright and dim along with the indicator flashing.  but didn't do it when I indicated left to get back in my lane..
Got to Windsor and then suddenly, in Sydney Traffic...  all lights gone, nothing on the dash worked - so no gauges.  I thought the motor stopped.  But when I got out, I realised it was running.  The only thing working was the motor and the electric windows and my voltgauge I had plugged into the cigarette lighter.  The gauge started alerting as voltage dropped below 12v.

So here I am driving in Sydney traffic no lights working and trying to find a servo to stop at.  Sticking my arm out the window to do a right hand turn into the 7-Eleven.  Stopped at the 7-Eleven.  Left the motor running and phoned the NRMA..  I did some electrical checks and it looked like the alternator died as there was no charging coming from it and the fuse was OK..  Anyway...  NRMA had no alternators and wanted to tow the car (they were talking to my wife at that stage).  Then I started pulling fuses out from everywhere and found several blown fuses..  Replaced them all and - everything back to normal.

Finally got to look at the bike 2 hours later than I had scheduled..

Bought the bike and loaded it up..  Hoping for an uneventful trip home.  It was...  until we decided to stop at the Tamworth Maccas to grab some dinner..  at 7:30pm..  got into the driveway and Yes - you guessed, it again....  no lights, no gauges etc.  At least I knew which fuses to replace..  even on the way home the indicator turning right was playing up again..

Looks like I be buying my mate a trailer wire loom and helping him rewire the trailer..

That said..

Yes I bought the bike from Minto..

Needs work - but I got it at a lower price, so that will allow me to work on the stuff that needs doing.

My wife likes the passenger seat way better than the VFR800.  As soon as she got on the GSX, she said it was like she was sitting in an armchair it was so comfortable..

The riding position is way more upright than the VFR, so might be looking at some lower bars as I'd like a touch more lean.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Also going to want to install a bikini fairing similar to say the GS1000S fairing..  or something like it.  Anyone have any suggestions for that one?

I'll try and post some pics later..

KiwiCol

Hellva day Bluedragon!  Least you got the bike & at a reduction too.  :onya:

For bars, have a look at this thread

For the fairing, have a look at this pic

different headlight (2 bulbs) these were a dealer fit option in NZ & Aussie (from what I understand), so you might be able to source one of these, else there are other options using the std headlight.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎
