Picked up the new RHS engine cover and gasket today. Planning to change it this weekend when I do an oil change.

Should I use a smear of silastic gasket or just the gasket?

Sorry for the basic question... I don't have a workshop manual yet!

Cheers,

Pete

Should be okay with just the gasket but silicon will not hurt, don't forget the washer on the front lower bolt.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

If it's a new gasket I lightly rub grease into it.(can then be reused if ever needed).
I wouldn't use instant gasket glue on it .
If fitted on the side stand you won't even lose any oil.
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too
