Idling higher when in gear

Went for a short ride yesterday and noticed that once the bike got hot, as i put it into gear at the lights etc, the revs would go up to around 1450 rpm. Knock it back into neutral and back to 1100 rpm. This happened on the way home. Let the bike cool down for a few hours once i got back, went out and fired it up and knocked it into 1st & 2nd a few times and it was fine.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone or if you have any thoughts. Mines a K6 with 50,000 kms on it. Clutch related ? The clutch does engage early (just as you pull the lever)
Will see what happens on the next ride.

My 14, K2, 132 000 km, does the same. Revs are a bit higher due to my adjustments, but the behavior is identical.
And it has done it since 63 000 km, when I bought it.

Its clutch switch. Can move my lever in and out slightly to change revs. Changes the engine mapping.

Can it be just clutch switch?
When I'm lubricating my chains and bike is on center stand, engine still revs a bit higher when the first gear is on.
Then when I lift the gear to neutral position, without touching the clutch, revs will drop to normal idle.
So from where does the command come?
Clutch switch + gear indicator?

On some Suzuki's the clutch switch certainly throws a different fuel map or timing setting. It's why you don't bypass the clutch switch on some models.

No reason why a neutral signal wouldn't do the same.

There is a gear position sensor on the engine so the ecu knows what gear the bike is in .

If the clutch is activating just as just pull in the lever I'd be giving the slave cylinder a good clean and service as well and it's always a good idea to clean both the clutch switch and side stand switch and thier loom plug connectors.

Thanks for the replies boys :onya:
I did change the levers to shorties (and liked them) a few weeks ago, and have possibly, just not noticed it on my first ride with them. So the first thing I will do, is change back to my previous set ( started to go a coppery colour from the sun) & see what the result is.
Seth, I think that is a job that needs doing too, by the sounds of it.  :cheers:

not at all sure on this one. all i know is , sitting at lights in gear, moving clutch lever out a touch changes idle, always been same. pull back in,  back to 1100. never worried me, has to be something to do with switch.

What forward thinking, Suzuki has built this effect into most (if not all) it's new bikes, when selecting first the revs rise to help prevent a stall, I think it's called low rpm assist.

mjgt, thanks for that info. certainly works, ive stalled ducati more in 3 months than ever 14. never stalled 14. im always on guard to not stall ducati, never think about it on suzuki.
