Bit worried about you in Long Cloud Barmy. Those Bros are crazy people. My old workmate called in today, hes a chocolate bikie harley man. I love him, we get on fine. Hes now building plane motors for Air NZ, Just put20 inch rise handlebars on,his harly, hasnt realised yet, he cant reach them. Hasnt realised plane motors are not v twins.  :rofl2:

OMG and I flew here (and will be flying back with) Air NZ!

Where Mrs Barmy and I have been driving up from Queenstown, have mainly seen dirt bikes and BMW Adventure bikes on the road, although there was one beautiful GT750 Water Cooled that kept pace with us coming up towards Franz Josef Glacier - ahh the smell of 2-stroke and memories of my old water buffalo! Only seen the occasional Harley and a handful of other makes though.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Hey Col. I trust you will be offering the traditional kiwi Boil Up for dinner with Mr & Mrs Barmy or will it be fish head soup ?  :whistling:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

KiwiCol

Could be either, but he's stuck on the coast at the moment, road is closed & there's no alternate route.

Finally made it to Christchurch this evening after a 10 hour 700Km+ "detour" drive due to a landslide overnight on the road I was due to go north on from Franz Josef to Greymouth to catch the Tranz Alpine to Christchurch. So missed the train, had to extend the hire car for another day. And broke my goddam tooth as well on the drive on a mint. So after that drive was a quick visit to an emergency dentist.

Still.....was a scenic - if long - drive and an expensive one at that, so will be having a few words with the insurance once home.

Never mind another day tomorrow and seeing Mr & Mrs KiwiCol as well  :onya:

Wow Dave. Sounds fantastic holiday. We are going to do something once our little dog passes over rainbow bridge. He is 17 in July. Missus point blank refuses to go abroad now. Not been out of the country for three years now. We did Barbados 11 years on the trot. Planning an holiday of a lifetime down under. Soon as we can. Have a great time.

Not the perfect start to the trip Dave, but I'm sure the Col family will get you back on track & sure you are going to have a great holiday. :onya:

Sweaty l thought the Barmys ticked the 'Adventure box'.....thus, landslide.
Tick 'Adventure Extreme box'.....rescued by helicopter after being trapped by landslide.
A couple of people ticked that box  :hat:

Oh yes we def ticked the "let's have an adventure" holiday - just were not quite expecting it to start like that!! I thought February in NZ was still summer LOL - apparently not on the South Island "wet" (West) coast!  :rofl2:

Nice Dave - good trip! Pick up my old K75 in Christchurch - I left it somewhere there!!!
Stan
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

700+KM diversion. FFS I'll never moan when the local council close a road and make a slight diversion...!

Kiwifruit

So not often you get a detour where you have to make sure you have a full tank of gas then BB ??
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Basil Brush

I used to have a strop over a mile diversion when I was commuting to work...
