Hi

I would like to fit a new throttle cable rubber gaiter (see photo)

I disconnected the throttle cables from the twist grip for a quick check, only to discover the cable end gubbings appear too large to feed through the narrow gaiter ends.

'Maybe' plenty of lube and brute force might do the trick but i have my doubts!

Has anyone succeeded in feeding a throttle cable through one of these rubber boots ??

   Thanks in advance

Andre

Haven't done it but I imagine it is harder in the cold. Hair dryer and silicone oil may help a good deal.

I tried.. but i didn't make it.
I think it's fixed.
I m afraid we have to buy a new throttle cable.

Hi

Good news i eventually managed to replace the throttle cable gaiter today with the aid of a hair dryer and lube.

But on assembling the throttle cables back into the twist grip, the cable tension isn't right.... one cable seems quite slack and the other too tight, leaving a very stiff throttle action (not that i had to disturb any of the cable adjustments) so i need to look that again tomorrow.

You need to check the right cable goes into the right part of the twistgrip assembly and also check the cable is correctly routed properly and that the cables go into the housing properly ii the throttlebodies.

Hope you get it sorted .

Mister Fishfinger

Hey Milts - where did you get the replacement rubbers? I thought they were only available as part of the cable assembly.

Also like to ask where to buy rubber thingo, mines ok but would like a spare

Milts

Hi

Unfortunately i have thrown away the old packaging but fairly sure this is the rubber gaiter i decided with.

I took a chance as this looked just the job and worth a punt at the price although the size was an unknown, but it fitted perfectly, albeit a challenge to fit!  so buying 2 maybe an option.

Thanks for the link.

Bought 2.

Seem very feasible this one will fit our 14 too, because the yamaha r1 / r6 trottle also works perfectly as a quicker action trottle on it.  :onya:

Good shout. Mine are split, so at £2.99 these have got to be worth a try.
