A spot of maintenance during the hot weather here.

Cleaned the Air filter and put in a new set of spark plugs.

.....and found this under the tank!

A mate has some rust inhibiting/converting paint. Appears to be only just under the painted surface and only around the frame lugs/brackets.

Has anyone had similar issues?

I did a forum search and found more severe rust issues in tanks.

Any thoughts/recommendations regarding treatment.

Yeah Mate, lots of ways to fix it. Not a serious problem. My fix was easy, rust converter, apply and let it work. Can paint or apply protector. I just used Tectyl, spray on all unseen places. If worried about inside, get pump out, have a look with torch. My way is a tank of 2 stroke mix once a year, just use it up in one ride, doesnt hurt bike at all. A few litres of e10 also, sucks all moisture thru, again use in one ride, dont let it sit. Rest of time, Wynns make a brilliant fuel cleaner, our stock use at work on every car service. It cleans but also takes out all moisture. https://www.wynns.eu/product/dry-fuel_consumer/

Same problem in my B/W. I have used spray oils outside the tank and a drop of 2-stroke oil among fuel during winter time.
