I was complaining to my mate the other day that no matter what I did my visor kept fogging up and it was driving me crazy. He told me to buy a pinlock insert, he has one on his helmet and he swears by it, so I've ordered one and it will be here soon. I went on you tube to see how the visor came off and how to fit the insert,(looks easy enough  ???). So when it arrives I'll fit it and see if it works. I also have made sure I've got the correct insert for the helmet (shoei  xr1100). On another note I have bought a t-shirt and hoodie with the 14's on them from that website I saw the other day, I will let you know on the fit and finish of them when they arrive.

Recently bought a new visor and pinlock for my GT Air. When fitting they are very tight. Make sure the inside of your new vidor is spotlessly clean. Make sure not to touch anywhere other than the very ends of the pinlock visor. The pinlock visor scratches super easy. The visor pins have a cam on them so make sure it seal well. I can tell you they fog up between the two if they are not a tight seal. I finished up tearing it out and ruined it.
On xmas day l rode for a couple of hours in torrential rain. I wear glasses all the time so its a pain to ride with visor cracked open. With the new visor and pinlock fitted not once did l open the visor while on the move and not even in town sitting at lights. Just brilliant !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Yep I'd agree with Kiwi they are a great idea. I've had them for several years now, piece of cake to fit and no fogging  :boogie:

Insert came this morning, fitted no problem and no fogging :boogie2:

Yes the best to fit and they really work money well spent in my book  :onya:
look check and look again  then you see the fool

Mister Fishfinger

I love my Pinlock, it came pre-installed with my Nolan helmet so I didn't even have to fit it. And it's the mutt's nuts in winter, no fogging at all (except if I wear specs, but that's the fault of the specs not the visor).

My question is - do you guys remove it for summer? Strikes me that it would be better to have fewer layers of plastic in your field of vision if possible, so if the weather is nice you could take it out.

I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

MarkN

Only take mine out to clean it Fishy, never had any probs in what passes for our summer or any weather

I only remove ours to give them a good clean every now and then .
The rest of time they stay in as it can rain at any time of year.
I tend to use a very dark visor with a clear  pinlock and keep a clear visor with a yellow pinlock as a spare incase I'm out and it gets dark or foggy.

Mister Fishfinger

I've not needed to clean mine yet. How come they get dirty if they are sealed to the visor?

seth

The side that on the inside of the pinlock that faces your face .
Plus it's good just to give the whole thing and the visor a good clean and polish every now and then .
