As an aside (albeit related) question can anyone recommend good in-ear earphones for my missus.

The cheapo ones that came with her phone fall out etc.
She wants some good ones that are good quality sound wise, stay in the ear, and allow her to lie on her side while in use.

Most in ear buds fall out of my ears as well but I found Sony ones (with the slight dog leg) stayed in best and sounded really good.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Not so sure that any earbud is comfortable lying on your side... but the missus likes the Bose ones because they don't fall out and are pretty comfortable...  she has the soundsport - not so expensive and a pretty good sound.

VladTepes

BOSE sound sport wireless?

If those are the ones you mean that's well beyond my budget at nearly $300.

God no!!   they would be wasted on the missus.... the wired ones are much much cheaper..

To be honest there are so many brands to choose from. l'd say just try some, see what feels comfortable and suits her needs.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

If you are referring to the OP - fair enough.
If to ear buds... can't try those on !

Apparently these are OK

Thats a bugger but makes sense.
Some of those over ear headphones look pretty slim. Might be better to lay on than she thinks. Not the bigger ones of course.

Im leaning more towards the Bose QC35 ll reviews look good.

Reviews from owners are the most useful.

I'm sceptical of Bose as their marketing has generally been far better than their product - in a value for money sense anyway.
Not to say they don't make some half-decent stuff. Perhaps just not as good as they claim or charge for.

Just looked at those Bose ones - definitely wouldn't be good to lie on I don't reckon., Oh and well out of budget for now.

Would be no good to lay on thats for sure. I agree with your marketing statement.
As for price yep they are expensive and will be a goal set for me. I've already had two visors and a pinlock for xmas so im spoilt now !!.

Mister Fishfinger

I've just come back long haul from Los Angeles today with my trusty Bose QC15s, as others have said they are essential if you do a lot of air travel.

I had to travel a bit for work so I invested in these (about £230 duty free if I remember right) and they've been great.

Yes, Bose might not be the last word in audio quality but they are still very good, more than good enough when you are travelling.

Mine are wired-only and run off a single AAA cell, but of course technology has moved on a lot. Nowadays they pretty much all come with Bluetooth (and a cable for when you want to connect to the plane's system). Ideally you want a set that still work with a cable if the battery goes flat (they won't cancel noise in that scenario, but at least they'll still work).

Only downside with mine has been the leather deteriorating around the ear cups, but you can buy replacements on Amazon on eBay so I might do that. I also thought I had a problem with the cable shorting for a while, but it turned out to be a tarnished connector jack - easily fixed with a bit of polishing. For the money, this connector really should be gold plated to prevent that.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with the ear cups on my QC15's so bought a set of genuine BOSE replacement ones - took 2 minutes ro fit. Good as new now  :onya: That aside, have had mine now since 2012 and use them constantly, mainly in the gym these days, but def essential on long flights for cutting out unwanted noise and getting some kip (yes I have them on then, just switched on, but no music playing - do a fine job!)

C'mon Dave, not even a tiny bit of AC/DC.

For the record I bought some 'skullcandy' in-ear plugs for Mrs Vlad, The kind with a little loop that helps keep them in place.  She really likes em :)
Not as good as the 'similar' Bose version I;m sure but also half the price.

And if she likes them thats all that matters.  :onya:

Truth be told, my missus would prefer l be working towards hearing aids rather than noise cancelling headphones.
