Rear brake calliper

Stunned - just walked in from the mancave.

Took 14 out to run an errand. Halfway back home telltale 'grinding' noise. Put 14 on stand. Front - nothing. Rear. I'm mortified. Calliper hanger snapped on one bolt hole. Nearside pad missing. But, also a 'lug' from calliper is missing. How the hell could this happen?

Answer on a postcard please? Anyone else experienced this?

Oh - and anyone got a rear calliper and hanger for sale, please?!

I think that can only happen if the front bolt of the torque arm goes missing.

The arm falls down, hits the road and it's bye bye parts.

As for a caliper, try this breaker.

I have some spare parts for rear caliper (i think that just one piston missing) and hanger. What exactly do you need? Prize friendly...

Hi thanks for the replies.

The torque arm was connected. I was aware something was wrong. The piston was touching the disc as the pad was missing. On its was out it has broken off a small lug on the calliper. I have tried the remaining pad that side - and it does rattle more than the side with a full compliment of lugs.

I'm at an absolute loss as to how this could happen.

The hanger is completely broken. One bolt hole snapped off. So, it was just hanging on by the other.

One thing though - last autumn I fitted a Pro-Bolt titanium brake pin. Talk about difficult to remove. I could not get the bolt unscrewed using a spanner. I had to re-attatch it to the fracked to get it to shift.

I have seen an hanger on eBay. Polished just up the road from me. But, if anyone had a rear calliper for sale. Please let me know. Thanks.

Got a bid posted for the hanger off eBay.

Oh - just a thought. Does any other Suzuki calliper fit? So I can widen the net so to say?

That's a new one on me Brian - how the hell it happened - pass. Never ever heard of that before. I can only think at some time the casting (somehow) has cracked around the bolt hole. Wierd. And hopefully a one off.

Good luck with finding a caliper. As for the jammed probolt pin - did you smear some copaslip on it?
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Yep - sorry. I've done the unthinkable. Joined FB. Just took early retirement - so I thought it might be a good way to keep in touch.

MRG - thanks for that. i'm watching it...!!

I'm 50/50 if I need one or not. Gonna take 14 up to mechanic next week.

Whats happened is a small 'lug' has snapped off. I've re-fitted pads. Pads are nice and snug and tight with a nice little tolerance.

It's impossible to see - as it's inside. But, for peace of mind going to let an expert look at it.

Then it might be eBay!

@Blubber Would you be so kind to provide me (us) with contact information for this company. The ebay-link you provided, doesn't give me anything.
