Morning All,
Just registered and thought I should make myself known. I got my 1400 a couple of weeks ago - Sept. 2008 model - 28,xxx km. Seller had done everything - new bars, levers, Pipe Works 4 into 1, custom seat, emmissions control override chip, luggage, tank cover. Low kms and kept in good nick. I came from a '93 cbr1000f that unfortunately caught fire on our last tour and sits in pieces with major electrical work required at my workplace! Anyway, the 1400 was a long term dream bike for me, so the CBR fire made it happen sooner than later. Also have an '80 GS850G - the 2 Suzies sit well together in the shed (photo attached).

Thanks for the welcome. The CBR was a weapon but loving the character of the 1400. Will find out more about it weekend after next - doing Thunderbots and Oxley and back via Krambach and Gloucester.

Whats an Emmission Control Override chip?  a PC3 or 5 maybe?

As descibed by the seller. I'm thinking PC of some version.
Done zero wrenching on this bike to date besides oil change so haven't ID'd what this mod is or IF it is actually in place.yet. He descibed the effect of the mod as smoothing out the throttle response at all RPM./ gear selection. I have no other reference for comparison, but the bike does run and pull quite smoothly from low revs in all gears. Maybe just how the 1400 is? Also this is my first FI bike - I'm used to carb synching every inline 4 that I've had to date.

If you have a full system ideally you want to bin the PAIR system on top of the engine, blank it off. Use a PC111 or if buying new a PC5, and get it mapped on a dyno.


Not sure what you have. A "emmissions control override chip" isn't a familiar term with GSX modifications.

Sounds like a PC3 has been fitted.  If it was a 5, I'm sure the PO would say it's got a PC5 in it.  The 14 does pull smoothly through all the gears, from way low in the rev range - nice & strong (but totally manageable) all the way.

You are permitted to sync the throttle bodies on it as well, may or may not need it, but no harm in checking, you'll obviously have no trouble doing this then, but there is a Tech Tip on how to do it & what to watch out for.

If it has a PC3 or 5 it shouldn't be hard to spot and identify.
Normally under the seat or behind the side panel.
