Cleaned the bike today and have caused myself a bit of an issue.
So l dry the bike down with an airgun. Its all going well untill l stick the airgun into the cigarette socket l use for phone charger to blow out excess water. Dumbarse touches the contacts and l get a spark.
Now l get the clocks to sweep and then CHEC comes up and no fuel pump or starter. Headlights come on as normal.
Traced aux socket to find it wired straight to battery. All fuses behind LH sidepanel look ok.
Your assistance please gentlemen.

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Water in kill switch?  or bumped it while drying it off?   That's what the CHEC usually means.

If it's not the kill switch, have a crack at disconnecting the battery from the bike, leave it for a while, say 15-20 min & reconnect again & see if it's any different.  Sort of a 're-set' everything by disconnecting the battery.

Col, check 30 amp fuse in starter relay. Bad boy for not having fuse inline with socket.

Kiwifruit

Yep checked the 30 amp fuse......thats when l figured l had a problem.
Anyway l flicked the kill switch on and l now live back on happy planet.
I dont like the mix of sparks and computers so thought the worst.
So thanks Col and yes Grog will fuse it. Would 10a be plenty ?
Panic over.

A 5amp for what you're using it for would be plenty, but 10amp wouldn't cause a problem.  Good to hear it wasn't anything major.

The old kill switch trick. Gets you everytime. Any size fuse, doesnt really matter. Can rem. A bloke on old forum, he posted all sorts of things hed done to fix his bike. Went on for two weeks, kill switch.  :)

Kiwifruit

Feel like a bit of a goose......but rather that than a major problem.  I know not to play with stuff l dont understand. Checking fuses is where l stop with electrics.

The old kill switch trick.

To be fair, as a kiwi, he didn't understand properly and didn't realise everyone meant the "kull swutch"....   :stir:
Ottomans: 'Hippity hoppity, Vienna's our property"
...and then the Winged Hussars arrived.

Kiwifruit avoid washing the bike with pressurized water
and remember that the air gun remove the most of the water.. a small amount pushes it into the switches and contacts or into tiny gaps damaging the bearings for example.
