I think that someone from you on old forum have this mod (Kanerdog 1x1?) I need change position of my horns. I would like hide them. Probably somewhere under tank. Have someone from you this mod? Where is the best alternative place? Have somebody photo with this mod?

It was kanerdog who did the mod and I copied what he did.

Essentially if you remove the oil cooler there is a space behind the headstock, where by fashioning a small bracket you can mount one horn out of sight. However the mounting ho,es are out of sight so it's pretty much hard to do. Kanerdog fashioned me a bracket during one of his strip downs which made it easier

I used to have some photos of this, but will have to check if I still have them - if so will post up.

Photo will be great. Thx Barmy

I'd like to hide the horns as well...
Partly for aesthetics and also to protect them a bit from the weather. On my Bandit 1200 there is only one horn and I've remounted under the tank up near the head stock.
Next time I have the tank off the GSX I'll be looking to see if I can successfully mount both of them out of site under there. It's not high up on the "To do" list at the moment, but I will be looking at it in the future.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

I'm sorry to say V_i_c_i that I can't find it. I'll look on some of my backup disks tomorrow. I did look also through the Big Wobbler thread that Kanerdog put up, but couldn't see it there either.

If I can't find it tomorrow I'll try to describe how it fits etc to try to give you some idea.

gsxbarmy -> some news for me?

gsxbarmy

@V_i_c_i  sorry for the delay, I've been searching through all my pictures to see if I still had the photo - but no. So I have had to draw it from memory - please see the attched (very poor) drawing with very approximate sizes. This - as I recall was the shape and rough size of the bracket that Matt made, the end (with the 2 holes) bolted into the back bottom of the headstock using two small nuts and bolts - the only way you can feel where to bolt it is to remove the oil cooler and put your fingers up into the gap behind the headstock and between the two top frame tubes and you hopefully will find the two holes I describe. To get the exact hole measurements, I would suggest maybe smearing the bracket with some metalworkers blue and then pushing a piece of paper over the top - removing it then should show blank where the two holes that you bolt up on are.

Regards the horn, I found that only one would fit in the space - and not the OEM horn, instead I fitted a single PIAA horn upside down (same as one of these:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIAA-Dual-Tone-Horns-Kit-500Hz-600Hz-With-Weather-Resist-Cover-Twin-Pack-HO8E/231540730586?epid=1905371753&hash=item35e8e72ada:g:fDwAAOSw9-FZ3eif

into the hole in the side of the bracket

Sorry buddy, but that's all I can recall, but I hope that that gives you the outline

Thank you for that Barmy  :salute:

Re
placing horns out of sight, if pic is attached I put mine in the tail section, well hidden, clearly audible when required and confuses the hell out of the MOT tester

So, today I ordered Denali SoundBomb Mini Low Tone 113db Horn. Sound is great. Price approximately 30eur it's not terrible. And this horn is much louder than 2x OEM horns. I hope that space behind the headstock will be large enought. I'll send photos when it's done.

After few lost battles, I won the war  :boogie:
Terrible work. There is only a few millimeters extra and no place for measurement.
In first attempt horn did not go wide, in the second attempt the radiator fan did not come out and in third attempt hiiting frame when use.  :mwink: ยจ
But the fourth attempt was perfect.  :boogie:

Always glad to see someone persevere.  :onya:
