@mjgt

I have just sent an email off to Watchguy..Many thanks for the info.

A couple of years ago someone on here was selling a beautiful Omega...Said I'd have it and he went and flogged it to someone else..I wasn't happy :furious:

PS...That's a nice collection of Omega's you've got there..

My Dad had a lovely 1950's Seamaster, but the house got burgled back in 1993 and it went walkies along with a lot of other valuable stuff. Dad bought it in New Zealand when he was there in the Merchant Navy.

The constellation was my dads, my mum bought it for him in Singapore where he was serving in the RAF.

My Omega has been received by WatchGuy this morning..Hopefully, soon I'll have it back all working and nice again.
Can't thank you enough for telling me about him. I've been meaning to get this repaired for so long now..It was the kick up the arse I needed to actually do something about it.
I really wanted it to go to someone who could be trusted and also knew what they were doing..Christian seems to be just the man.
I'll keep updated as I get progress reports via his blog on my watch.

I took ages to find him myself, if you use your log in to view progress he takes pictures of it through the repair and gives a report on it's progress.  He has a new apprentice who rides a Ducati, I've not me him yet but he rides bikes so cant be that bad

I too, am a bit of a watch 'anorak'
I have 25 at the moment, among them are a 'very-thick' 60s seamaster, a very rare '70s 'square' speedmaster, a few Brietlings, several Seikos & even a Suzuki!!
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

VladTepes

Never seen a Suzuki watch before ! :)  Those timezones don't help me though.

Just a few of my collection of Seikos

I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

I see you are quite fond of chronos - and most of those appear to be quartz?

Service cost of chronos (particularly automatic ones) here is $350 so just over half that = UK poundy things.

Expensive.

My Omega is now a "work in progress" with Watch Guy.
It's needs a fair bit of work, but it'll be worth it in the long run due to the value..At a rough estimate so far it's going to cost me approx £300.
Better to have it working though than just sat in a drawer doing nothing. I know my Grandfather and Mum would be pleased to see it being worn again.

This guy really seems to know his stuff when it comes to quality watches and repairing them.

Agree, he has got some skills.  When I was looking for someone to service my Speedmaster I was told by a couple of repairers that it would have to go back to Omega as it was very specialised work on that particular model, Christian said "no problem, have done a few with that movement".

Sadly it's a dying art - so few people entering the trade now and entry costs are HUGE if you want to work on Omega etc. They insist you have machines and equipment (and do courses) all of which will cost well north of $100,000.

Takes a while to earn that back....

A real shame.

I have a watch, but it no longer works.

It might be junk but it has sentimental value.

I might get someone to have a look at it one day.
