Clutch Seal Upgrade

NOTE: This thread is also available to download as a PDF file from the Downloads (General) Section

I've added a clutch slave seal from a Hayabusa to my 1400, it was a part from a later model busa which could be retro fitted to the earlier models. I had a spare so I fitted it to my 1400 K3 when I added the new chain and sprockets. I can't find any microfiche pictures to show, I'm not sure if Suzuki fit it to the later 1400 models either. What I do know is it stops chain lube getting through the slave cylinder seal and contaminating the fluid, my clutch reservoir on my 1400 was full of the stuff when I bought the bike.  Here’s the relevant part......

I fitted it between the slave cylinder and the metal (tin) guard that goes on the inside of the sprocket cover, the pushrod goes through the seal, and a good dollop of red rubber grease seals the clutch slave once and for all once this additional seal is in situ.

Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Here is a list of the bikes it is officially fitted. https://www.bike-parts-suz.com/microfiches-s_recherche_piece.html?recherche2=oui&text_recherche=23166-02F20&image=Search Then click on "Genuine Spare Parts Catalog" to get to the microfiche.

A handy site to find out all the Suzuki bikes a certain part is for.

froudy

Fitted mine yesterday...
Quick and easy to do and well worth it I'd say :onya:
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

KiwiCol

Done my 2 as well, as ya say, quick n easy.  Messy part is clearing the buildup of chain lube & road grime from the area.  Cleaned & lubed the push rod too.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

clean and grease pushrod, oil n grease mix, a must every year i reckon. protect that seal. a major bitch to fix if it leaks. top 5 of things a must.do.

Hooli

Change the fluid every year too, it doesn't like the heat.

My clutch pushrod is ok where it goes into the seal, but outwards is quite corroded. May look into getting stainless item made up at some stage.

Might be some additional buyers on here for that Froudy!

Notty

Not sure I got the correct seal ?  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

KiwiCol

Yep, that's the right one Notty.  Sometimes they can be a little tight getting the all edges in, but persevere, it'll go eventually.  :whistling:

Show us a pic once you've got it installed, that'd be good.
