been reading the Bandit stuff on top speed. what is fastest anyone has done on 14? mine is most standard, nice can and cleaned out all bad bits in collector box, thats it. runs perfectly. best ive seen is 250ks, speedo maybe 10% over, equals 225. 139.8 mph.

froudy

145 on the clocks two up with Mrs F on the back.
Due to speedo error it was probably more like 135?

Ref Bandit 1200 top speed...Anyone that claims to have done 160 on a standard one is talking b*llocks. I've got a Speedo Healer on mine along with GSX-R digital clocks, so I know it's accurate and the fastest I've seen is 137mph :onya:
On standard clocks with a fairing, before I ripped it off I saw 154 wich was wildly optimistic.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Being a law abiding chap, most I've seen on me clocks is 105kph, on a private road of course - wouldn't exceed the legal limit, not even on deserted coast roads where there's no intersections, no houses & no traffic & dead straight, no, not me sir.   :whistling:   :happy1:

On both of my K2s (bog standard) 220 km/h. With a tiny windscreen on my 1st 225 km/h.
Seating position was laying over tank on my 1st and very straight upright on the 2nd. On 2nd K2 I tried going top in 5th gear - 225 km/h.

All done on nearly flat public roads without strong wind in the rear :happy1:

My 14 isnt standard but at 156mph the front end started to lift off the floor so i was forced to back off.. So no idea what its capable of.
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

My blue/white goes off the clock to the second number on the odometer but no ideas how fast that Is .
The red and black does on the clock 160+ but starts to weave above 145 so tend not to thrash it.
From using a GPS it seams my clock is about 10mph high at most speeds .
It was said back in the 70's that the fastest thing on a Suzuki was the clocks  :stir:
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

They had clocks then?  :whistling:

242 kmh on GPS, it was over 260 on the clock. Engine would have pulled more, but it was enough (=too much) for me.

Mister Fishfinger

Years ago when we were spotty youths my mate got stopped by the police for a "routine" check.

"Nice bike" says the officer, "how fast does it go?"

"70 on the motorway and 30 in a built-up area" says my mate...

I can't say I've done a top speed run but with an even more restrictive exhaust pipe than the Bandit, the best 1/4 mile I have done is 11.607sec @ 181.95kph.
Whilst I did get off the line quicker beating my friend racing against me on his GSX1400 (Yoshi pipe & PC3), he crossed the line with a terminal speed of 192.86kph.
Given the difference an aftermarket exhaust can make it begs the question, Top Speed of Modified or OEM?
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

When I were a lad and had my GSX1100 I had it nailed to the endstop with the needle off the clock (it ran out of numbers at 145) so probably a real 130ish, then the really fast bikes started to appear and I could not afford them so just consoled myself that for a short period in history I owned the fastest production bike on earth.  But for the last 30 years I just cant be bothered, I ride big naked bikes at the speed I feel comfortable with (roads/police/cameras allowing) and if faster guys turn up I just let them go.  I have no idea what the top speed is on any of my bikes, I know they will all do well over 100 mph with ease (or so I was told  :whistling: ) and that's plenty for me.

Amongst mine have been a CB750,  GSX1100 Kat, a GSXR1100, a ZZR1100, two GSX1300R Hayabusa's.

Each one was a bit special in its day. I like "performance" bikes.

Perhaps that's why the recent H2 appeals to me.

Mine indicates 163mph flat out (extrapolating from the speedo markings), unless the panniers are fitted when it'll only show 161mph.

I can't remember the last time I passed 140 though, guess I'm getting old.

All I know is that two up with top box, soft panniers and tank bag, I did an indicated 200kph and I think it had more in it.  But at that speed "comfortable" it isn't.  That's why really fast bikes have fairings.

Naturally this was on a closed race circuit, where I always carry and pillion and luggage....
