Hi all, I want to replace my roadrunner meep meep horns with BikeTek twin horns which put out 60db each, I suspect I need to use a relay, can anyone confirm?. If I need a relay can I tap in somewhere in the headlamp for a live rather than direct to the battery?

Thank you

If you want a live in the headlight, the orange wire off the ignition is the wire you want. Also available out the bittom of the fuse box, whichmay possinly be a better place to tap if you are hiding a relay away under the tank (say).

But do you need a relay? The question is do yours horns fitting instructions say you need one? If no, then no you don't. All deoends how much current the horns draw when you press the button.

Personally I've never fitted a rekay for 2 reasons - hardly use the horn, and when i do, its normally a quick "honk" rather than keeping my finger on the button. Its only if you use the horn constantly for long periods that (IMO) you need a rekay to stop the wires overheating due to a heavier current draw.

Or just do what i did and fit a Denali soundbomb, 130Db and no relay needed - and damn loud!
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

If you have fitted a soundbomb without a relay to your GSX, then I can't see that these Biketeks would draw any more current, so I'll give it a go. I did originally buy a Stebel Nautilus horn (140db), but there's just not anywhere on the GSX it fits cos it's just too big :(, so I'll put that one on my ZZR14, yippee!

The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Andre

Sometimes I wish I had a soundbomb that would blast some idiots eardrums or even better, blast them to oblivion.

What does it say about me that I read barmy's post through and didn't even notice any errors. Sober.  :whatever:

Yep I found that too. Still got it in a box somewhere. If I find it I'll pop it in the Landy.

Will these do? Picked up at my local thrift shop this week, yes that was the price! Worth it just for the relay.

Let's see where you could fit them  :P
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.
