oil leaking from the sump plug

Hi i have recently bought a 2007 1400 and when i bought it i noticed that the sump plug had a drip of oil. I didnt worry as i thought that it was just a washer issue, but i have since changed the washer for another (no luck still dripped) I then bought a new sump plug with a new washer and gues what it still leaked. I am awaiting for a new plug to arrive which seals on the thread and not on the cover with a washer, but if that doesnt work in am stumped. Can anyone help as i really dont want to cobble it by loading gudge all over it so just wondered if this is a common fault if so what is the best solution. Andy..........

If there is no cracks in your sump, a new copper washer should work. Do not over tight it. 23nm only.

It's normal to introduce yourself in the bar before wading in with stuff .any way that said I'm sure you'll head that way soon.
If you do a forum search you'll find loads of info on this  problem it's not common but has happened to some .
A dowty washer can help best

Had the same... turned out to be a oil gallery plug that was weeping. See enclosed picture

welcome mate. yeah, an introduction is nice. were all easy to get on with. so ive found anyway. they put up with me , your leak could be a problem, it could also be easy fix. see how you go with your plan. stag is a great sealer, if you want to keep plug, just apply to it every change. i have a fumoto valve, thats a love/hate option. some say no good, hang too low. i like mine, just need to be aware over kerbs etc.

I bought one and then never fitted it. I was worried about it getting smacked off when I bump down over the kerb at the top of my road. I sold it...

Thanks guys soz for the short coming with introductions i am Andy and am glad to be a new member of the forum. Thank for the suggestions i hope that its not a crack in the sump i carnt see one but i am not rulling it out and i am 55 so my eyes arnt as good as trhey used to be infact if the crack was large enough to fit your finger through i still wouldnt be able to see it.

I would help myself by taking a pic with camera using the macro function. Make sure you get good lighting on that sump. Then load it on PC and zoom the hell out of it. That way you should be able to see the tiniest crack.
