HoldMyBeer

Hi all - long time lurker, though I should introduce myself before I start contributing.

I picked up this gem from a guy I know who moved back to the US. He purchased it with ~1500kms on the clock back in '09 and I got it off him at ~36000kms a few months back. He did a few mods with some of them initiated by a slow low side that damaged the left side. Some of the mods I plan on keeping, others will be tweaked/undone/redone again.

A big box of parts arrived today from Japan so the real work is about to begin.. of all the bits that arrived, the plastic underseat storage bin had me most excited. I didn't think I was going to get my hands on one of them anytime soon!!

So far:
- Replaced seat cover
- Switched out brake and indicators for LED units, with flasher relay changed accordingly
- cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. Pulled bits off, removed funk, put them back on again... Good fun!

To do:
- swap window clutch cover for standard unit
- swap billet magneto cover for standard unit
- replace bent renthal 756 high road bars with *probably* ultra low unit
- sort out the tank... The previous owner had some cool homemade art painted on the (slightly damaged but repaired to a decent degree) tank. He sanded it off prior to sale which is fine, but now I have a blank canvas... Going to a standard colour would be good and in line with keeping the rest of the bike a bit more stock, but i will sit on that one for a while and see how it goes.
- sort out the mirrors... I like the awesome visibility of the standard units, but geez they big and chromey. I am not a fan of bar ends - all the power to them, I just don't dig them - but I will sort something out that primarily gives great vision and as a secondary consideration looks great.

Keeping:
- the dual headlights.. until a single headlight unit falls into my lap! I didn't like the dual lights to start with but they are growing on me and the amount of light put out by having double the number of bulbs up front is pretty awesome.. I am in less of a rush to swap those over now.

Thats it for now, will post up bits and pieces as I make my way through.

Cheers

If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.
