Wurth seems to get good raps.

I've been using Motul which seems to do the job just fine.

Grog & I both used Wurth chain Lube, goes on 'dry' & leaves a Teflon type coating on everything. Chain stays clean & looks good. Expensive stuff though.
However, although it says for motorbikes & 'x' ring & 'o' ring chains, it's probably more suited to a less strenuous life than a motorbike chain. I still use it, but on other things that need lubing like hinges & locks. It works bloody marvelous on these things & doesn't wear off, but as for a bike chain lube, I personally reckon you can do better for your chains longevity. Yes you'll have to clean the black off the wheel rim & swing arm (after a few applications) and wash the chain & re-do it. But better performance & life span are your rewards.

The stuff I've been using of late is branded BellRay & called Blue Tac, made in USA.  Tacky & resists fling off in a matter of a minute or so. It also dries clear so chain still looks nice. The chain is also nice & quiet compared to using Wurth.
I'm happy enough with it.  Costs about $24.00 NZD from the local bike shop. (Avon City Suzuki)

So the scottoilers are good?

When you clean your chain do you oil it then too, or just let the SO do it?
I have never seen one of these so I'm not sure how they work...

I've never had one either, but I've heard there's a midget under the seat with a 4L of EP90 & he slowly dribbles it out onto your chain, when it runs out he prods you in the backside to remind you to get some more oil.   :stir:

Worth their weight in gold Mike. I had the electronic Scottoiler on mine and it was brilliant (if exoensive - £200 in the UK) you had come, eye control over oiling your chain. The standard oilers are as good, difference is you have to manually adjust them.

The trick with fitting a Scottoiler is to make sure your chain is absolutely clean when you fit it (I had a long discussion with Scottoiler on this). They told. E you don't need the double injector on the rear - that really was only to satisfy customer demand, as how the oiler works is to draw oil through from one side to the other - and it def works.

Mine ran a lot smoother with it fitted and my chain hardly ever needed cleaning. Fling onto the rear wheel was minimal. A worthwhile investment IMO def improved the life of both chain and sprickets.

If no Scottoiler though, my preference for chain spray was always Wurth, great stuff

chain lube a personal choice. as col said i used wurth for ages. as it happened one link seized up. i cut old chain up, just to check, it hadnt been doing its job. was as dry as a desert. read up on scott oilers, probably the best option but expensive. last 10 th ks have been using vmx castrol 80 gear oil. normal gear oil is great but smells, tried it, pull up at stop and could just smell that horrible gear oil smell. vmx has no smell. drip it on both sides with oil can, rotate wheel lots of times. wipe off with rag. do a 20 k trip, wipe off again, maybe some on rear wheel also. after that a sweet sounding chain for at least 1 th ks. chain is clean, lube is brilliant, a great solution. i tried motul chain spray, if you want it, ill post, better off to pour your beer on it.

I clean mine with kero, then let the oiler do the job next ride.
I put mine on the week after I brought it, I've had the bike at least 12 years, am about half way through the second bottle of oil.
Payed for itself I'd say.

scottoiler  you cant go wrong once fitted had this on three different bikes the v system and from setting the drip and I mean oil drip after fitting you only need to adjust once a year for the weather when its warm turn down a bit when cold turn up a bit . its that simple if I can fit one anyone can trust me  :confused1:but know matter what you do if you don't clean your chain at regular intervals then what is the point of using all the types of oil grease you just lock the crap in to wear your chain away good cleaning is the key .I would rather have a clean chai that doesn't get to much oil on it but regulary gets cleaned .then a chain that's got so much crap in it that's keeps getting grease layered on it and keeping the crap locked in .

grog

totally agree spizzoil, well said. keep those o or x rings crap free. your oiler system is a winner, my way takes a bit longer but works fine.

Batkwaka

I give the inside of the chain a light spray with WD40, it has worked well for me.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

WD40 is one of the best de-greasers you can get Batkwaka.......are you sure its actually oiling your chain (it is only fish oil after all)?
