i love a good book, just wondering if any you blokes also read fiction. if so, your latest recos. greg hurwitz, nowhere man. my latest fave. into the third one, brilliant books.

Mister Fishfinger

I love to read, but don't do as much as I would like because of work (and bike, and DIY etc.)

Lately I've been enjoying a bit of non-fiction. Last one was "Lone Rider" by Elspeth Beard, she was the first British woman to go round the world solo on a motorbike, back in 1982 when there were no cellphones, GPS or Internet. A cracking read, with some funny bits and sad parts too. I highly recommend it.

Also my daughter bought me Guy Martin's latest book, which was OK but just tells the story of one year in his life. His earlier autobiography was supposed to be better, I might get it.

The last fiction book I read was "Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell (I'm a bit behind the times, it came out about 10 years ago). Brilliantly written, but quite hard work to get through and ultimately a bit disappointing for me.

But I will read pretty much anything, with the possible exceptions of Dan Brown and Jeffery Archer.

I just looked up your man Gregg Hurwitz, he seems to be in the style of Lee Child (the Jack Reacher guy).

No worries, it's a free world. My mother has been a keen reader all her life, don't think I've ever seen my dad pick up a book. People are just wired differently (it would be boring if they weren't).

I love to read and was adamant that I would always read paper books and not these kindle dealies - but as I can get Ebooks for nowt it was a no brainer - I tend to read every day and to keep it interesting I usually read fiction then biography and then factual

and if I ever get insomnia I pick up the complete works of Dante - that'll do it every time

I had a Kindle for a few years and it was good for travelling, but as a reading experience it just wasn't the same. It's now sat gathering dust and I have gone back to paper books.

Top tip - every now and then I go in the local library and have a look at the sales shelf. They regularly sell off the used books for 60p. They are usually quite recent titles and still in good nick, plus I can have a gamble on ones I wouldn't normally buy. After I've finished I pass on the good ones to friends and family or else take them to the charity shop.

I read every evening. It has to be a paper book and I read approximately one to two books/week, depending where do I work.
When I'm on ship I read more.
