today aliens stole every gsx 14 on the planet. none left. so, what do we replace them with. the 14 has been the jack of all things, stockers, modded to the max, everyday rides. cheap n easy to keep in good nick. can tour long distance or sit at drag strip. track days or just fit every billet part available. we loved them, thats why we look at this site. now all finished. what is your replacement choice. has to be naked, has to be an allrounder, has to be reliable and not stupid expensive to maintain. has to be something you can keep stock or modiffy if you want. your choice gentlemen, only one. im very interested in choices.

Hmmm... got me there. Maybe time to hit the grave :imrgreen:

Yamaha XJR 1300 or Honda CB 1300 look pretty good but have never ridden one of them.

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

A friend of mine has a CB1300 naked, it's a great bike. I almost bought one but got the GSX instead, just because it's a little bit beefier. If I had to have one, it would need to be in the red and white colour scheme though. Doesn't look nearly as good in the other colours.

XJR1300 carb model is also nice, but getting a bit long in the tooth now.

Failing that, I have a soft spot for Speed Triples. Lovely to ride, but I think they might fail the "all rounder" test, especially if you want to carry a pillion or a lot of luggage.

Bit of a common theme appearing here.

I spent a year comparing the XJ1300, CB1300 and one other.

I obviously went for the other, as I'm here,...writing this....   :P :P
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.

Lot's of comparison tests/reviews of the 3 done by the bike-journalists. To me the 14 came out on top every time :smitten:

A CB 1300 rider, with whom I had a long conversation last summer, threw a lot of longing looks at my 14. OK, tastes are different but the appearance of the 14 in the flesh is leagues above that of the Honda. Honda has a great reputation in durability but the 14 is ... well you know.

The aliens would have to fight me for my GSX1400..I wouldn't let it go without putting up a struggle!!

I'd quite fancy having a play on a Suzuki GSX-S1000 :onya:

It wouldn't stay standard though. The exhaust would have to be replaced and lose the pig ugly number plate hanger.
I prefer the red/black version with Yoshimura system.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Blubber

i think i would choose a b-king with a custom fuel tank and different exhaust system  :boogie:

1) ZRX1200 in green.

2) XJR1300 in gorgeous 50th anniversary yellow speed block.

3) Failing that - the new Kawasaki Z900. Saw at NEC - good. But, should be twin shock.

ZRx1100
GSF1200 Bandit

I had previously owned both these bikes (albeit a ZRX1200) and wish I had never sold them so bought again (£500.00 for the ZRX & £1000.00 for the Bandit) and im in the process of rebuilding both of them - going to be a nice wee stable when there done

They should also have stuck 4 silencers on it. If you're going to go retro, go all the way.
