Something is really skewed there. France has a problem with increased traffic victims, passes laws to battle death and injuries. What does the police? Showing the cold shoulder to controlling and enforcing the law. What gives?

It takes a while to get anywhere near understanding the French. At heart they love beauracracy, but they are also highly militant and love to ignore everything they are told to do .

So basically they make rules so they can ignore them.  :happy1:
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.

And don't forget them CE1 (or whatever) gloves  Anything else we need to carry?

Bit off topic but this makes a good watching imo:

HIT AND RUN - the Christmas Vigilante in Paris https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muAPJiMho2Y&feature=youtu.be

The police, as yet, are not hot on checking gloves, there are also rules on having reflective strips on helmets (even the manufacturers ignore this) and carrying your own breatheliser though they have dropped the fine on this one so wtf?

Not quite true as I read it - in respect of reflective strips on helmets, that only applies based on where the helmet was purchased, so arguably UK riders don't need the reflective strips - although many of the websites mention "jobsworth" gendarmes, so it's pays your money takes your chance. And of course there are standards for the strips
Regards the breathalyser, when they changed the law in France, they forgot to back out the bit where you have to carry them, so legally you still have to carry 2 breathalysers - but don't have to use them?

Only in France....... :happy1:
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Andre

Wish I had 2 breathalyzers on me when a cop pulled me over in the US and asked if I had been drinking. I said no and at the same time thought "I didn't, but obviously you did". Would have loved to invite him to a breathalyzer competition  :imrgreen:
