Good on ya mate, stay safe on the gravel. 1400's n gravel are not the best bed pal's.

I thought gsx1400 and ditches didn't match....  :whistling:

Nice ride with the wifey to Lake Taupo for lunch yesterday. You can just see Mt Ruapehu in the distance.
Don't think I could handle that Gold Wing..... It's huge !!

great pics kiwi. one day ill get there. ill tell a story, sorry if off track but thats me. ask my wife. my mate wal bought a goldwing 10 yrs ago. he was 72 then. biggest, bluest thing youve ever seen. his opera music blared constantly, loud stereo that wing. he decided to just ride and he did. nearly 300 th ks around oz. reverse gear failed, honda fixed it free. only prob. he would go to shop for milk, appear back 3 mths later. would say took wrong turn, ended up in wa. grand prix, nthn territory, wherever. all on his own. now very sick but says he did what he wanted. was a very rich building speculator, gave it all away to ride his bike. follow on, his grandson has now taken over. wants to ride the wing till it dies. now nearly 400ks. best story i know. sorry to bore yas but needed to tell.

We are luckier Red......no crocs, no snakes,  can sleep in most places and not get eaten.  :whistling:

A former workmate and remote ex-relative of mine (German) flies every other year to NZ on vacation. Greatest place on earth for him. No crocs, no snakes is a not to underestimated bonus. How about other poisonous critters such as spiders?

grog

Oz has all those critters. you forgot the sharks, jelly fish, disease ridden fruit bats by the millions. killer wasps, fire ants. i guess we have a few. never really a problem. just be wary, its a really safe place. i never wake up thinking about any of that stuff. more wary on the road, wary at home, some druggo doesnt rob me. same story as everywhere else. id be more concerened with salt on roads. my bike sits in sun lots of days, i have a cover. i play golf in heat, use a cart and apply sunscreen. your cold i dont understand, my heat you northerners prob. dont understand. how long since you put ice in your fishtank to keep them alive? how long since your oil temp gauge on 14 showed 35c for a cold start. mine did today. one day ill have xmas with snow, just a plan. this is a great forum, to be able to talk to the world. im waiting for cooler, others waiting for heat. amazing. tomorrow here is forecast 40c, too hot. try putting riding gear on, wife wont even ride in it. harley boys do, full riding gear. shorts, singlets n thongs. wankers i reckon.

Andre

I have lived in a couple hot places for quite a number of years. Lots of manual labor at 40+ on my  property. My skin was almost black. Met a mountain lion face to face. They are civil creatures though. Glad I didn't have the same experience with a bear. They are nasty beasts. Both common where I lived. Poisonous snakes and spiders as well.

Here in Germany you can see these critters too- in the Zoo. The last 2 months were the darkest in over 25 years. January hasn't been better. All excited now for Sunday as we are supposed to get 6 hours sunshine. Guess what I'll be doing!

Sweaty

6 hours of daylight Andre. Hard for us to imagine, as at the moment we have 14 hours of daylight. Sunrise at 5.55am Sunset 8.10pm.
Give us plenty of time to hunt for critters
