Bit of Storm Damage

Came down this morning..Looked outside to see if there was any damage..We had really bad gales from the early hours of this morning. Storm Eleanor had already gone, but this was far worse!!
Felt had parted company with the shed roof. When the shed was put up 5 years ago the installers never sealed the overlaps with roofing felt adhesive. The wind lifted it and the rest was history
Managed to do a temp repair with heavy duty staple gun at the height of the storm..It was rough!!!

Picked up two new rolls of heavy duty felt from Wickes this afternoon. Special offer too..1 for £30.00 or 2 for £45. Hopefully get it fitted tomorrow if the wind dies down and it stays dry. Already cut the felt to size and removed and treated the barge boards with a good mixture of creosote and old engine oil.

To be honest the wind was that strong I'm surprised the shed didn't get flattened/ blown away

You too Froudy....we been copping it aswell. Had a leak in the roof which presented itself with a puddle on the kitchen floor yesterday. Up on the roof refixing a down pipe which had come away. Temp fix for now. Been out standing up some of our newly planted trees and putting some more stakes in.
The tank is 30,000 litres. The float was a foot above the top of the tank yesterday morning and we were being careful with water usage !!

Nightmare @Kiwifruit ...Bloody climate eh! 

The wind has f*cked off now and it's dead still out there. Getting colder over the next days with temps going sub zero again..But dry and sunny so that's a bonus.

Roofing felt is bitumen sheet with a grit coating..Plays havoc with your elbows when you're leaning on it to nail it in place

Anyway..The shed is all re roofed now.
Been out there most of the day at it and my hip is now giving me grief. If it stays dry over the weekend it'll all get a good coat of creosote mixed with old engine oil as usual..Works a treat.

Good lookin shed mate. I dont understand the felt, must be what we call sarking? Heat resistant crap under the roof covering we use here.

Glad you got it sorted mate, I had a similar occurrence last year with 3 sheds  in the back garden, all felt & all deteriorating & since age is rapidly catching up, I decided to bite the bullet, spend a bit & do it once & for all, simply left the old stuff on, a then fixed a load of vinyl, self coloured roofing sheets, capped-off all the corners while I was at it!!
Trouble is, one shed is 36ft x 12ft, another is 20 x 12, & another 12 x 12 & I did all 3!!
Everything is really well sealed now & should ( I hope ) see me out.
But 2 years ago, the roof was blown-off the  30 x 10 portacabin, (I've had it over 30 years) & I put a load of those 80mm thick insulated panels, bloody heavy so I 'modified' the engine-hoist, made the job a bit easier for an old guy!!
On top of that, there's a 32 x 32ft workshop, but that already HAS a good 80mm roof!!

Some nice sheds you blokes. Most aussies just do the pre fab way. Mine is all re done but was the local butcher shop back in the fifties.
