I am sure that most will agree that breakdown cover is fairly essential in the UK and likely to save you money and hassle in the long term. So here is a tip for those that have it.
I got my renewal through recently with the Royal one in the UK. Not naming names here! They wanted £194 for myself and wife any vehicle even as a passenger, no home starts but recovery included. Limited to 6 call outs a year.
Rang them and whinged and they changed it to Unlimited call outs, Home start included, Recovery as before and dropped the price by £65 to £129.
Gonna have a good night out on a bit less than that tonight.  :hat: :boogie2: :boogie:

My neighbor broke down with his car 500km from here on his way to work (in France). Largest German car club diagnosed and towed him to garage. They wanted 1500+ for the repair. As he did not like that price, the club shipped the car to his local garage who does the job for 400€. They also payed his hotel and train ticket to work. All for a yearly premium of 85€. Covers all Europe, all motor vehicles in his family, and then some.

Glad I am in the same club. But can't have everything - no Halfords in Germany! And shite weather the last 2 1/2 months.

Breakdown included in all comprehensive policies in France, though, if you breakdown on an Autoroute (motorway) you have to pay to be recovered from the Autoroute to the nearest garage but you claim the cost back from your insurance.
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.

I have full European breakdown and recovery including onward journey and a girl and hotel for the night with my car insurance - gives me personal cover on any vehicle including the 14 - priced that up and full price is over £300 ! and only costs me £50 extra ! :smile2:

Mines in with my Carole Nash insurance..It's got me out of the sh*t twice in the last couple of years now.

The first time I needed them it was a disaster. Took them 3.5 hours to get to me..They sent a "Heavy Plant" guy who didn't even know where a motorcycle battery was located. I borrowed his test meter and got myself going again

They now use SOS Motorcycle Recovery and last time I needed them they were very quick, and I was only about 90 mins later getting home..Recovered from Bristol to South Wales.

Now, an insurance company that provide a girl with the onward journey really are thinking outside the box!   :happy1:
