reading today, new ducati scrambler 1100. going on about how much torque it has. WTF. 65 ft/ pounds at 4750 revs. 1400 has 93 at same revs. rocket 3 has 147 at 2500. i know its lighter than 14 but who are they kidding. the buyers i guess.

My previous bike..
Yamaha MT-01 had just over 110 ft lbs of torque..
But truthfully I prefer Sophie (GSX) by a mile...

Without torque, even with 1000bhp a bike would not even move. Its a balancing act.

My 14:  109 ft lbs/3000 rpm => 139 ft lbs/7000 rpm => 212 hp/9000 rpm (this was @ 0.7 bar, at the moment max 0.9 bar).
Enough for commuting bike.

To understand that relation between power and torque, there cant be horse power without torque,
because P=F x V  (KW = NM x R/S  / 159.155),  and KW x 1.36 = HP.

Torque is measured, horsepower is calculated.

HP = (RPM* TRQ)/5252

EDIT: I'm old, I use ftlb and hp, not Nm and Killerwasps or whatever you kids use.

HP or KW, no matter, both are pulling hard if you have enough of them  :grin:

KW or HP, ft lbs or NM. 1.36 conversion is common to both.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall
Torque is how far you take the wall with you....   :lol:

Well said Vlad !!

I've ridden bikes with more horsepower but less torque than the 14.

The high horsepower bikes were a lot more fun !!
