Most likely, today was my last ride of season 2017. It was a wonderful not cold and dry day (first over few weeks). Perfect! :)

Saturday saw me meandering through Belgium and Luxemburg. In Belgium the road surface is notoriously in bad shape.  I mostly know by the roads when I enter Belgium

The pic is taken in the largest nature preserve, a high moorland, in Belgium. It extends by a third into Germany. In midday half a dozen hinds with a mighty stag making up the rear, crossed my way. An awesome view and not much of a scare. A couple of miles later a dead bore by the roadside added to the reminder to ride safe.

Saved enough on petrol (30 cents less per liter) in Luxemburg to pay for yummy Belgian fries and coffee.

Riding with the evening sun in my back, I was almost front ended by a blinded driver veering onto my side of the road while fiddling with the sun visor. He must have gotten an extra scare when I honked while being a couple feet from his front fender. Normally I don't ride during the evening hours this time of year for that reason. Either you don't see or you are not seen. Should have gotten on the road earlier. I'll do that tomorrow on my trip through the Eifel. Well maintained roads and fantastic corners for the taking at projected sunny 26 Celsius. Taking in the fall colors during sommer weather - what a treat it will be

Rynglieder

It was a surprisingly decent day yesterday for late October. The Z1000 was due a turn out of the garage so I took it for a run to Moreton Corbet Castle. Only about an 80 mile round trip but that is enough for my backside on the little Zed.

I'm often at a loss as to where to ride out to and often lose part of my Sunday sat in front of the computer trying to make my mind up. The English Heritage web site is a good starting point though and even if what you finally arrive at turns out not to interest you too much at least it has focused your attention on getting out and maybe taken you down some roads that you might not have thought to ride on.

Moreton Corbet turned out to be a nice little spot to wander around with the camera though, more pictures here if you want them: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rynglieder/albums/72157662007320598

Hooli

I felt the need for a day on on the 'busy' roads of the Yorkshire Dales, found a lovely pub at Kettlewell for lunch and then kept exploring the 'wide' roads.

It must be getting cold as the rear wheel twitched out on several bends when there was nothing on the road to cause it.
