1st of all sorry for this question I should know better but limited access in office to do a proper search

The fuel light and the last bar have started flashing - whats left in the tank as I'm not close to a petrol station . . . . .  :confused1:

I know I'm a Dumba55 I'm dragging the dregs from the bottom of the tank and must be an age thing as Ive never done this before

cheers Del  :notworthy:

When they both start flashing, book says there's 1.75 Litres left.  About 10 miles if you're good.

Sorry, about 17 miles.    Where's the edit / modify button gone?

but with 1 bar and the petrol pump icon flashing i have done 15 miles but everytime i turned the throttle it spluttered i wouldn't like to get that low ever again.

My owners manual (K2 German) says that there are 3.4 liters left when pump symbol and last bar are flashing. I had that only once and filling her up after riding a few more miles I added 19.25 liters up to the lower edge of the inlet tube. With 22 liters tank capacity that's 2.75 liters left. Would have been good for another 25-30 miles till only fumes left.

BUT I would go by Col's info because a) Col may have the more accurate book, b) Seth's above experience, c) sludge in the tank, d) inaccurate (faulty) fuel gauge.

This copied from page 10 section 2 of the K6 owners handbook,

Fuel meter:
The fuel meter indicates the amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. The fuel meter displays all 5 segments when the fuel tank is full.
The left segment flickers when the fuel level drops below 1.75 litters (0.5/0.4 US/Imp. Gal)

Says also there is 6 L left when you get to the last bar - it'll be still lit & it starts to flash then. It's when the last bar & the wee fuel pump icon flash that you're down to 1.75L.

I regularly ride until the pump light is flashing as most of my riding is local with multiple fuel station options...would be a little more conservative with fuel management on bigger trips in unfamiliar territory...

Out of interest does this thing have a fuel filter & if/when does it require replacing?....(& how)...

Always handy if you look at the stickies in the relevant technical section  :onya:

also refer to this section if you would prefer to fit an external fuel filter as many down under seem to do

The K2 manual also says 6 L when 1 bar lit/pump flash. When both flash the 2 manuals differ quite a lot. Either something changed or they got to many complaints from people not making it to the pump station?

Carrying a small petrol canister under the seat may give some peace of mind. Have seen some from 0.5 to 2 L.

Cheers Troops

Ive about 8 miles to the petrol station so will be a bit of a danger ride lottery to get there - fingers crossed and thanks again

my manual says 6 l left when last bar blinks. 1.75 when both blink. my bike does 18k to litre, 17 if pushing. 6l =108ks, 1.75 just on 30. ive done the 30 with both blinking, testing it big time. it still runs exactly the same. will make breather hole bigger as suggested. 22.5 is most ive ever put in, see if breather mod increases it. highest ks ever on a tank was just over 400ks. normal riding, some town, some highway, some solo, some with wife on back. im amazed at its fuel consumption, i dont think its running lean, goes well.

8 miles should work without manual pushing . Let us know how much it took to fill her up. Which year is your 14?

K2 - I recon Ill get a fair few litres in it

righty ho I made it - but definitely squeaky bum time  - bike was running a tad lumpy towards the end  :lowside:

I filed up as normal and it took 21.85 litres  :radleak:

never again will I let it get that low and it was the 1st in 4 years of owning this bike - Im very proud to say that in 35 years on the road never ran out of fuel

cheers for the help and info  gents
