anyone know the thickness for gasket paper for engine cases and what type high temp needed .change mine twice a year at times and it is not cheap thinking of making my own try to save some cash cheers spizz

Teufel

I use 0.8mm
You can get from 0.5 to 3mm I think
I get it off ebay.
Works fine.
Not just to save money, but it's great when you can knock one up instead of calling, ordering, waiting, collecting etc. and you can never be sure you will get the exact part/gasket until it's in your hand.

I bought a set of gaskets a while ago, they were cheap enough here but as Teufel says it's convenient to make your own.
I meant to scan or copy them to make it easy to cut them out. I'll put the files up here when I get around to copying them.

Rick, please do. print them out and copy, is that how it will work? excellent if it does.

thanks all on a better track of where to start and the scanning part sounds good many options now to look at

It looks like I've used up all of my gaskets when I polished my cases last time.

I'll order a new set and scan them up, might take me a week or two to get my act together.

Ermmmm "A couple of weeks" he says

You can actually scan in the engine cases them selves and use them as a template to cut out your own gaskets.. Just cover them with a white or black cloth. works a treat.
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

ye ive always used 1mm thick just gives a bit more if there's any imperfections in the surface , and ive always tapped mine out on the casing its self using a small hard rubber mallet you get a perfect fit .
i intend to live for ever or die trying !!
