My engine bars i bought thru gumtree arrived today. Described as one perfect, a small mark on other. Rh one has been down the road, unuseable. Gave him a ring, stands by his description, got advice from me. Back to beginning, new ones will be ordered. Totally annoyed, robbed me.

ARGH!!! What an A-hole.

Name and shame the Seller grog. That ain't no small mark.

I'd be absolutely furious grog. Indeed name and shame him, as calling that a small mark is plain fraudulent. At the very least I'd report him to Gumtree as "minor mark" is a very misleading description. Any mates you have down his neck of the woods who could knock on his door to discuss refunding your money?
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

seth

thats crap mate
the seller should have said about the marks as they are far from minor scratches.
hope you get it sorted and quickly.

Thieving Ba**ard!  You'd have to be some sort of mongrel to sell those with a description like that. Maybe take them back to him & give him a small mark on his nose - about the same size as the ones on the bars.

He'd never get away with that if people were there to see them & handle them prior to sale.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Send the lads around to sort him  :furious:
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

What a Frickin Dog. I read that advert and seen the pics & that Bastard made these out to be in great condition with one having a small mark.
I would do what ever you can to fix this theiving Bastard up Grog  :furious:

Sorry you've been done mate. Can you not claim anything through Gumtree?

grog

thanks fellas, just been ripped off, all there is to it. rang him, not interested in talking, his description was accurate he says. . no come back thru gumtree. mates at the bit to fix him, no adress to go to. totally pissed off. never gumtree again, this was my first. he hid the scars in pics. thought about fixing, weld up, some filler, re paint. would never be perfect and annoy me. options now, anyone know of anyone with givi bars who might have dropped on lhs. still has rhs. will try to contact givi, maybe can just buy new rhs. otherwise just buy a new set. lesson learned, put it down to experience. what really bugs me, i would never sell anything to anyone if it didnt match what i said, have sold stuff on this and old site, i stress it doesnt meet expectation. we all value perfection, mongrel. plus the bloody time wasted.

So what info have you got - name, phone number, gumtree username, email address, link to ad... anything  (PM me if you prefer)

I fancy a bit of internet detective work....

one a solution is powder coating it with a chrome effect will make it look ok but not totally how you wanted .
but least they'll be useable .

Bad luck.

As you say, it looks like one you are going to have to put down to experience.

Personally I could not advertise like that but perhaps that is because I basically a decent person.

No don't do that.  Even my powdercoater guy I use prefers not to do that.
It just makes people think "He can't afford Chrome" or "That chrome is buggered..."

You'd be much better painting it to match the black on the engine.

Grog sorry about you getting ripped.
However, maybe all is not lost. Back when gods dog was a pup we used to repair chromed bumpers. Any imperfections we couldnt file out we would braze up, file and have rechromed. Speak with an electroplater because im sure a man of your talent could fix that easily.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

What a thieving bastard he is, that is NOT a small mark.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick
