A thought that popped in my head: The way I figure you are doing this, lends itself to add a spring for damping impact. Necessary? Don't know.

Andre, have searched, no springs fitted in any brand. the knob thing is the absorber. as far as nuts sticking out, actually gonna fit dome nuts. they will look good, stick out a bit. common practice on home made ones. i cant see a problem, get ground off have served a purpose. stopped forks getting ground away. same approach for swing arm.
