last week on the run home from the mcr i thought I'd check my speedo against my gps .
bike = gps
@30= 28
@40= 37
@70= 65
@80= 70

firstly i couldn't believe it could be that far out.
secondly is there a fix to get the clock closer to reading correctly .

thank seth

As you see from your numbers, speed indication difference is not linear on out bike.
I remember Thommohawk post (old ORG), where he write exact correction percentage on different speed. Until ~50km/h it should be very precise, and on  ~120km/h it's showing ~10km/h more. It's done on purpose, like all car/bike manufactures do and is programmed to speedo electronics. Not sure, it's easy to change progressive correction to linear.

Also speed indication is depending of sprocket size and rear tire profile...

One more thing - even speed indication correction, odometer indication is not corrected. it mean, trip length is quite precise (depending of sprocket size and rear tire profile)...

I have SpedoHealer on my 14 (she have 17t engine sprocket and 55 profile tire), and I never intend to get correct speed. My goal was to get odometer right and SpeadoHealer do this job perfectly.
Regarding speed - I know I almost always exceed legal speed. Also I know, when my speedo is showing 140, I'm going 125 indead - so if I will be caught, penalty will be smaller :)

I have had two of those Healtech Speedohealers. The first one worked one month and I changed it to new one as a warranty, the second one worked two years, but wont work any more... Poor quality or bad luck..

Police here give you a rebate of 10% off the speed they measure. So about 112 in above case. At a limit of 100 km this would cost you 20 €. No wonder we have so many bikers come visit us from our neighbors.  :smoke:

Can't complain to quality. Also my second unit - first was sold with old bike, but I never had any problems. So I assume you had a bad luck with this product.

In our country, tolerance for police speed guns is +-4 km/h. Doing +13km/h is giving them opportunity charge us for less then 10km/h violation, which it nothing... So they also preferred not to spend time on this. Instead of this, government is making social companies, to make speeders responsible for all traffic problems... But, this is other topic :)

i was just surprised by how much it was out .

thanks

We have a few signs around that post your speed as you approach. Its always lower than my speedo says.
Reasonably happy cruising at 113kph on the open road. Coppers dont seem.to  bother. Dont try 120 tho !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I've got a speedo corrector on mine, I try to stay 100 - 104 (corrected speed) whilst on the open road. Sometimes I have more success at doing it than others.  :grin:

Mine was out by similar numbers Seth, in fact when I calculated it, it was 8.7% out. Put a speedohealer (by Healtech) on mine and put in that percenrtage correction and at indicated 70 was about spot on with sat nav.
Note that a speedohealer will correct your speedo reading but won't correct your odometer.

Never had an issue with it in the 4 odd years it was connected.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement :lol:

Barmy, sorry, but you are not correct with this statement. Speedohealer change speed sensore impulse rate outside of OEM speedo electronics, so it will affect both. This is theory which is checked on practice.  :hat:

Andre

In their FAQ they state that both speedo and odo are changed but you can only set one or the other. If you calibrate the speedo, the odo would be slightly off. They don't say by how much.

I've worked mine out roughly against those signs that display your speed. I'd come up with 8.5% over, looks like I was right.

My odo is dead right though so I'm not worried about the speedo being out.
