As you are all aware, Sheff stepped down as admin of the "old Org"; and with his impending wedding taking his focus this year I stepped into the breach & made all the arrangements for this year's Magic Carpet Rally.

Sheff and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that came to MCR15.

Thank you to all who donated to the auction & raffle and to all that bought items & raffle tickets.

Once again Paul, Sandra & staff did us proud at The Old George, Sykehouse.

Silverthorne http://www.silverthornrock.com played a brilliant set on Saturday night and are well worth going to see if they are ever in your area.

Thanks to Jane Rollings and Janine Wood for stepping back into raffle babe role.

Thanks to Andrea (aka Mrs Spike) for all her support in ensuring I got everything sorted and for shopping for raffle prizes and the like.

No long-distance award was given this year as The Ginger One had no competition!

The Cozi Trophy (in memory of our departed brother Mike 'Cozikan' Gidney) was awarded to Sheff. As I was running the show this year I made the decision to retire the trophy and so Sheff will keep this forever. There were some tears.....mainly from Sheff the puff!

For those that couldn't attend but would still like to purchase a commemorative rally badge; you can Paypal £6.00 to andybrearley@gmail.com. Please send to 'friends and family' so I don't incur charges and include your forum name, real name and address.

Over the course of the weekend we made £405 profit thanks to everyone's generosity. Half will be donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance with the other half retained as float towards next year's event.

Although this was the last MCR rally by name, due to popular demand the event will carry on, albeit in a slightly different guise.

Details of next year's party will be posted once we can get dates confirmed.

Thanks again.

Thanks go to Spike and all of his support team, putting on a great event despite the demise of the original Org.

So now I'm confused - in the MCR15 thread, it was suggested that both Spike and Sheff announced they would not be running an "MCR" event next year - yet Spike's words above about keeping 50% of the profits seems to belie this? Also we talked about (Sheff and Spike both standing down being the case), of perhaps fining our own events organizer.

If then these events are to continue - I would suggest that whilst we may well possible agree our own (UK) organiser, that they should work hand in hand with Spike and whoever to keep these events running.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Annual rally to still take place Dave, but not under the MCR banner as it was the rally name of the old org.

How about the Rally of the Magic Carpets   or RMC   :boogie:

Then it would be nice to obtain a new venue as well, as the facilities at The George are atrocious for those who are camping - which is why a lot of people stopped coming up from the South.

Blubber

I have been lucky enough to visit some motorcycle bashes of another suzuki enthousiast forum.

Most of them were on a field next to someone's local pub. We could use the toilets of the pub after closing time. Plusses were,  food, drinks, music,  band all available.... Big time
Downside was no shower.

Occasionally it was held at the local rugby club. Plusside showers, toilets and drinks in abundance.  Food and music was sourced locally.  Downside was: we needed to clear the playfield due to practice runs  :rofl2:

I always had a good time and just blagged a shower at a members place or barmaid  :smitten:

Happy to search my UK contacts for the previous places  :mwink:

Desert Fox

Thanks Andy for a brilliant weekend and for all the time /effort you have obviously put in from your own free time to make this event happen.
Look forward to many more.

Stolichnaya

For my 10 pence.....
I went to MCR last year (may have been year before - much beer & Stolichnaya was consumed and my memory is knackered)
Anyhoo...

The Pub was great at MCR.  the Music was great, the people made it - however, there is in my opinion some huge failings with the venue.  not least of all the disgusting toilet facilities and lack of washing / teeth cleaning etc.  its 1 loo, for everyone and while I'm not bashing the Pub - overall it was somewhere i wouldn't really do again.  I booked a meal and then waited (i think) nearly 2 hours for it (Barmy..  remember?)  Great pub, great atmos but please - spend some dosh on amenities.

As for the formation of a new bash..  why the heck not tie it up to a summer event that's already on!!!  it makes perfect sense as the toilets, food etc will already be there for the other bash !!

Ideas / examples
Anyone done Top Fuel Weekend at Santa Pod?  http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_main.php
CRAZY weekend.  loudest cars on the planet.  Bank Hol weekend event so you don't have to go back to work Monday.  brilliant entertainment, all day something is on.  Camping on site.  bars, music and food. its all there!!  very fairly priced too.  We just rock up, take over a portion of the cavernous field and do our thing and enjoy whats already there.  just needs us!
Those that have never heard a Top Fuel  9000bhp car do 0-300 in 5 seconds - you aint lived

Same idea can be used for WSB Donnington - but i sent this year and it was not that good.  new format is a bit pants
Same again for MotoGP..
Or Cadwell..  Snetterton...

lets just tag onto another main event so weve lots of things in ADDITION to do...  then its all back for a Sh*t, shower n shave (optional) and out to sample the on site bars/music!

1402 reasons to go!!!!
