Flushing oil

Got a lot of creamy oil in engine and was thinking of a flushing oil to get rid before putting in the good stuff any advice will be appreciated

If it were me, I'd take it for a good long (200 - 300k) ride to get everything hot & evaporate the moisture in the oil. Make sure your breather is clear first.
If the long hot ride isn't an option, do an oil change but also take off the oil cooler & pipes. You'll need a couple of new 'o' rings but they're cheap to buy. For a complete empty, this (cooler off) method is really the only way to get it all out.


The nature of our engine means it holds some of the oil in even when we do a change, now, if you put flushing oil in, it's going to hold a litre or so of that as well. Not something I'd like circulating in my engine for an extended period of time as it'll be diluting & stuffing up the new good oil you put in.

I agree with Colin. The white creamy stuff is caused by condensation from the engine building up in the oil, so a good run out will burn it off nicely (as well as dry out the insides of your cans), so would thoroughly recommend that, then once you are home, drop the oil whilst the engine is still warm (as it will flow easier then) with the bike on the mainstand. Then change the filter and refill with fresh oil.

No need for flushing oil, the above works perfectly and does not do any damage to the engine.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement :lol:

Thanks lads it's really thick might just do a double oil change using a cheap oil

I think the basic problem in 14 is that oils are running too cold in our northern climate. We have a heat switch what starts the fan, but we dont have a thermostat to adjust the lower end of the oil temperature.
That is why I have partly covered my oil cooler in cold seasons( you can find this from owners manual).
In future I will fit a Mocal thermostat to the oil lines to control the oil temperature.

T24, you might be onto it, just too cold. riding mine in 15c degrees last night, only runs at 60 degrees. i read somewhere that fully synthetic oil puts out a lot less condensation. might be worth a search. something that doesnt worry me in my climate. the thermostat idea works for me. we use flushing oil in really dirty motors at my work. run for 20 mins. or so, drop it out. if your oil is really bad, id be inclined to  drain milky stuff, refill and use flush, drain again, fill and ride hard. drain again. fit some nice fully syn. im so fussy on clean oil. no, i dont use fully syn, but in your situation id be thinking on it.

Oil is a wonderful cleaning agent. For the cheap oil change, I would drain the oil cooler by taking off the pipes. Also take the filter off and let it drain or buy a cheap filter.  Then go for a long ride with the cheapo-stuff before you do the second oil & filter change.
