Had a new D.I.D chain and JT sprockets (£88) fitted by local bike shop, labour (£35).

Not got a problem with that but to me Im guessing they have not removed at least another link because adjustment appears to be near the wrong end ??

i just fitted same chain and sprockets to emmas 14 and adjustment is the same place as in your pictures
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Doesn't look to be much room left to allow for any more chain slack....

Now you can change 43 teeth rear sprocket, that will fix it ;).   No need to 17 teeth front sprocket.

That's what I was thinking Vlad.

Sure I read somewhere about removing 2 or 3 links off new chain. IMO at least 50% of the adjustment has gone ??

You can soon check it - should be 116 links

Had a chat with the well respected mechanic who fitted the chain and sprockets. He said there is not enough length to remove 2 links and the D.I.D chain is that good it will be at the end of its life by the time the adjustment is fully out.

That sounds about right to me.

gsxbarmy

He's not wrong but IMO should have fitted the right length chain for the 14 in the first place. That's assuming it's NOT a 116 link chain he's fitted.

The first thing I would have done was slacken the wheel off and wind the chain adjusters all the way in and see if there is or isn't enough slack to lose another link.

A fraction shorter wheelbase and more chain adjustment wouldn't do any harm.

so with this chain thingso which I have just bought the x ring gtr gold heavy which was only £40 but is sold as a 122 link so will have to cut me is thinking cut to 115 and master link makes it 116 but I thought that you were to wind in the block ajusters in and move the wheel forward when new chain was fitted . :confused1:

I agree that it should be 116 link, cant remove one link it has to be two. I suppose I will have to count them.
