Red Biker

I think it's a great example in that it's K5 with low milage and it's Black and Red with upgraded suspension.
Hideous Bazooka aside £100 spent will see it as good as most.

I've removed the rear hugger on mine as I like the look better without it, so to me personally that's not worth anything.
Mine also had rust spots and crappy cases but easily rectified for little dollar and you'd never know! that's half the fun for me taking somthing a bit manky and restoring it to top condition.

At the end of the day as far as value goes, all that matters is Year and milage, so if you like the colour its a good buy IMO.

This looks nice

If you look at the other private sales on Gumtree the Red/Black looks a bargain!

Buyer beware on Gumtree!
I used to work for them and the amount of fraud was incredible.

Just for fun, here's an ad i took down when there:

Hi!

Social workers and foster carers needed nationwide!
We are very profitable PLC company who aims money by removing children from families and putting for adoption or foster care.
This job is very easy, no experience or education needed.
You will have only 2 tasks to do,- remove children from families and put them for foster care while we will get adoption family as far as possible from biological parents that they cant find them!
Removal from family is quite simple,- as you don't have to explain parents why you are doing this,- and Social Service Plc will provide you later all evidences needed,- we have our own GP's, lawyers, etc.- so don't worry, - if we wont be able to prove anything then we just will tick it as "Future emotional harm",- that is what we always do and British public will never find out!
If family is not giving you child and became aggressive,- then we will brand them as "family with mental health problems". Don't worry all this is very legal! When you see beautiful child ( to meet adoption targets) you have to act as fast as possible before family flees abroad! see in video attached to this video how they run off,- so make sure they haven't got time for this!!! So we take in care more than 1000 children per month and nothing happened!! :)
After child is removed you have to put him in foster care. It is easy as no specific requirements needed for foster parents,- no sex, no age, no criminal history mater,- as our Family Courts never will judge foster parents who neglect, we only do that with biological parents! Every week 2 children dies in care and no one been punished for this so no stress!! You can give even children to your own uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters or ex prisoners as they cant find the job anywhere else because of their past,- and we will pay them £400/week. If that is special needs child then £7000/week.
Salary is very good and competitive! Then more you keep your mouth shut then more you get paid!
You also may get share from judge as they gets £500k per case!
Experts typically gets £28 000 for a simple report!
We make millions, - £18k per placement in adoption!
All your local authorities makes millions by hitting adoption targets!!
If you are interesting to apply for this job, - type in Google FORCED ADOPTION and click contact,- dont email please :)

Just looked closer at that picture - it DOES NOT have upgraded suspension at all. Those are standard Hagon shocks on the back that cost about £100 when new, they are NOT Nitro's - the standard ones work OK, but are very harsh.

The more I look at it, the more it seems expensive to me and basically un-cared for generally, low mileage or not.

Thanks for all the tips and comments guys, at this point I am starting to have second thoughts,  experience then tells me to leave alone as I would probably never settle with it and there will always be others.
The hard part is waiting for the right one I guess.

When I bought mine it was very unloved, too much oil in, probably topped up the day I bought it, scratched exhaust, peeling Calipers and forks etc etc
Initially I thought I'd made a mistake but soooooo glad I did buy it and wouldn't swap it for the world. Now it's revamped the age and low mileage (14k) is a bonus and it's a bike for life.
I paid £3,500

Rufus that ad reads to me like a parent who had their child taken by child services (or whatever the equivalent there is) and having a rant.

I'd buy any 1400, any condition, the price just needs to be right.

Mine came with a dented tank, damaged clocks and some gravel rash.
(Full system, PC111, PAIR blanked, luggage, fork brace etc etc)

To buy it and put it on the road cost me $2625 / £1510.
Mates have bought 2 or 3 damaged 14's.

There are some real nice ones about but you don't want a project at "cared for" prices!  Scabby frames, cases, and non-beneficial bolt ons need to be reflected in the price.

GHowdy, I come by mine unexpectedly. I had made my mine up to trade my Burgman in  on a new Kawasaki 1000 Verseys. I rode the Burgmen in to my local Kawasaki and Suzuki dealer and right there at the shopfront doors was the SE14. It caught my eye instantly and inquired if it was a shop bike, or on consignment. Shop bike it was, I took it for a test ride, cleaned and reoiled the chain and took it back to the shop. I asked if he was interested in trading the scoot, yes was the answer and he gave me the same trade-in price as on the Verseys - we shook hands and the rest is making history :boogie:

Anyone know it, any comments, I'm really tempted to press the buy button.

Just taken a good hard look at the pictures - that's very clean, very nice, only thing that "spoils" it are the front indicators that the previous owner has put on, but they are easy sorted - and that's all that I can find from the pictures! Main stand is there, things like the sprocket hub in perfect condition - I doubt its been out in the rain much if at all.
Think I'd be very tempted to press the buy button as well - or maybe call them to see if they will do a deal with your 'Busa???

But yes, that is a very nice looking 14 - and not too shabby a price for an '06 at a dealers

That doesn't look bad.
Stuff like the chop to the rear guard, can, new bars, K&N (sticker?), crash bars, rad guard etc etc are all pretty common on a 14 by now.
You'd need to have a close look but the pics wouldn't put me off.

I suppose the thing to remember is that the "newest" GSX1400 you can buy now is going to be 10 years old so unless you are very lucky you will have to live with a few compromises.

Age will do things to a machine even if it hasn't been abused.

I suppose the thing to look for are weaknesses in things that you would want to change yourself anyway; I wonder how many completely original bikes there are still around?

The GSX is a great platform for dressing up to suit a rider's personal taste although I am trying really hard to keep mine looking like the day I bought it over thirteen years ago.

Good luck with your search, I'm sure the right one for you is out there somewhere.
