My last three refuels were:
299km @ 15.42km/l
307km @ 16.59km/l
318km @ 16.70km/l

Best is 17.85km/l.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

Consumption is always going to vary depending on how you use it, where you use and how long you use it for.

Cruising I could get about 44mpg out of mine, nice sunny day, no wind. 2 up into the wind that dropped to about 41mpg. If I just used around town, then about 35mpg. If I rode it like I stole it, I didn't measure mpg.

Just polished with Megs (paintwork shiny and slippery) added a further 0.0000458268 mpg to it (roughly)  :rofl2:
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

As mjgt said I always park up with a full tank too.It helps prevent condensation forming in the tank in the winter if it's parked up for a few days :onya:

Especially with ethanol in the fuel, it loves water.

Mines just standard other than a bit of a noisy pipe and I normally average about 10 miles to the litre over a tankful of petrol. Since my bike only gets used occasionally though I have found that filling up with either BP, Esso, Texaco or Total super unleaded and I don't have any problems with fuel going off or water in the tank-this is due to those brands allegedly not having any added ethanol. The 14 is not too bad but the Guzzi is a nightmare if I try to run that on ordinary unleaded it's ok at first but leave it parked for a few weeks and it will not run clean, when I first got it I had to replace all the fuel lines too as they were leaking and apparently this is caused by the ethanol. My old Volvo 760 would frequently play up if I ran it on any other fuel and apparently the plastic fuel tank as fitted to my Jeep will go soft and start leaking if I regularly use cheapo petrol in that! I have also heard from some of the classic bikers I know that old British bikes suffer all sorts of running issues plus leaky fuel pipes, gummed up carbs and rotting petrol tanks, and anything with a fibreglass tank or the Ducati plastic tanks have leak problems or tanks that go soft due to the ethanol!

Mick_J

All petrol sold in the UK has at least 5% ethanol in it with the exception of esso super unleaded, which is expected to change later this year.  Most are going to 10%.
As for plastic fuel tanks made by acerbic, the ethanol has water in solution and this is able to penetrate the plastic causing it to expand and growing the tank, this can lead to the tank leaking or touching where it should not.  I have two bikes with plastic tanks and only esso super in them, unfortunately I only discovered this after the tanks were affected, at least they don't leak.

I don't know if it's happening in the old dart but in Oz there seems to be a large amount of vehicles catching fire since the introduction of ethanol.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

bastards, ethanol making its way in here also. water mixes with it. very sad all the old bikes feeling its results. im in car repair industry, stories all starting to come thru. just last week, mazda 3 , designed to run on it, clogged up cat converter, 2800 bucks plus head off to clean it out. another 2 grand. less than 80 th ks on speedo. very bad fuel.

Mick_J

I have noticed that Yamaha now fit E10 stickers to their fuel tanks letting everyone know they are designed to run on 10% ethanol fuel.

The 14 is a fat slug (let the fight begin) so I don't cane it, my speed triple on the other hand  :mwink:

i am not the lightest either, perfect match for a 14  :mwink:

same as that better grip in my humble opinion

Had been looking for fuel consumption figures on here. I knew I'd seen the pump flash, then pump and bar flashing fuel remaining figures on here somewhere.

So on Sunday did 330kms two up, got home and the last bar still hadn't started flashing.
I did fill it up from a can and took ages to really fill it up.

I see Seth says he can get an extra 5 litres in if filled up carefully. Well I reckon I had got more that 22 litres on board when we started out.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Usually 310 on a run loaded, starts flashing. Have had just over 400, was very dry. Filling is the key, slow n easy on centrestand. Very rarely that fussy. 18 k/litre is normal for mine, has never varied. 91,95 or 98 make no difference.

My tank has a few dents in it and one side pushed in a bit.
(Holds a fraction less)

I don't have stock clocks or stock fuel gauge.

My bike has a Yoshimura Cyclone full system and a dyno mapped PC111.

I know from previous trips, my Sat-Nav and google maps, that when I head North
the town of Childers is 307K's (191 miles) from my house.

I always make it on a full tank with the GSX.

My little game is to try and time the traffic lights in Gympie on the way.
On a good day I can do my driveway to Childers without stopping / putting my feet down.

Standard engine - just the obligatory cans.

Most ever achieved 217 miles. Just been through a nearby town - out of fuel. So, onwards with mate following closely. This was nerve wracking. Out on the missile of nowhere.

I normally do more when the missus is pillion - as I go steadier. For obvious reasons. Now only run on BP ultimate. 47-49mpg. When missus comes along (rare) 51-52mpg.
